Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for determining an optimal database refresh rate is provided. The method includes simulating a shopping system that includes a plurality of databases, the simulating including updating the plurality of databases in accordance with a database refresh rate. The method also includes repeating the simulating for each of a number of database refresh rates and calculating error rates for availability of product determinations resulting from each of the simulations. The method further includes estimating customer satisfaction levels for the error rates and comparing the customer satisfaction levels to corresponding costs of implementing database refreshes corresponding to each of the database refresh rates.
Pillows for use by patients to help ease the pain in the thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, and flank areas originating from a variety of causes including for example, surgical incisions and stitches; internal and external injuries or bruises, such as bruised or fractured ribs; and natural body aches, such as menstrual cramps. The pillow is preferably made from resilient closed cell foam and has a handle to assist in placement of the pillow over a region of pain. The pillows can be washed and reused. Disposable or washable covers and heating or cooling packs can be used in conjunction with the pillows of the invention.

Abstract:
According to various aspects of embodiments of the invention, the actual flow rate produced by a metering pump is continuously measured using a positive displacement flow meter. Based on the flow rate reported by the meter, the output of the metering pump is continuously adjusted via a pump controller to achieve a desired set point flow rate. The operator sets a desired flow rate, rather than setting the pump cycle rate, or the output rating per pump cycle to produce an approximate output flow rate. According to some embodiments of aspects of the invention, a fluid feed system commanded to a fluid flow rate set point by a set point signal includes: a metering pump receiving a control signal directing a cycle rate for the metering pump; a fluid flow meter connected to measure a fluid flow rate produced by the metering pump and which provides a fluid flow rate signal; and a metering pump controller responsive to the set point signal and the fluid flow rate signal to adjust the control signal to direct a cycle rate which produces a fluid flow rate equal to the fluid flow rate set point. According to other embodiments of aspects of the invention, there is a method of controlling a fluid flow rate, comprising: displacing an approximately defined quantity of fluid at a rate determined by a control signal; measuring an actual flow rate; and adjusting the control signal to produce a rate of displacing the approximately defined quantity of fluid such that the actual flow rate matches a desired flow rate. According to yet other embodiments of aspects of the invention, a metering pump may be constructed and/or controlled as described above, in a chemical processing facility or a fluid dispenser. The variations described may be interchanged and combined in any suitable manner determined by one implementing an embodiment of the invention.
Folding umbrellas which close into a compact condition, for convenience in storage and portability are, of course, well known. To such umbrella, having the characterizing closing mode in which lower rib portions fold bodily against upper rib portions, there are provided, in one embodiment, cooperating closure panels which move towards each other from opposite sides against the bodily folded ribs and are joined to each other, by snaps, zipper, or the like, so as to effectively serve as an integral cover for the umbrella and, in another embodiment, a sock-like tube which is pulled over the folded-closed umbrella thereby serving as a closure for same.
An umbrella which opens into a noteworthy enlarged expanse due to outer fabric-supporting struts being urged through sliding movement along inner fabric-supporting struts, so that the two fabrics cooperate to provide the enlarged expanse to the umbrella.
A folding umbrella, particularly useful as a beach umbrella, in which circumferentially spaced outer ribs are slidably disposed on cooperating struts as the undersupport of the fabric cover, and in one extreme position of the slides, the umbrella opens to a radius of approximately 42 inches, and in an opposite slide position, the umbrella closes to a radius of approximately 32 inches, the 10 inch difference being the result of slide movement of the end of the rib along a strut which produces an internal fold in a central location of the fabric cover and thus diminishes its size accordingly.
Umbrella With Telescoping Tubes, Tube Latching Means With Spring Urgency, And Fabric Cover That Hides The Latch When Cover Is Closed
An open spaced apart patio sun umbrella which, when the top thereof is raised, undergoes a reshaping into an inverted v-shape closed condition and makes, to the extent it is raised, the location of an unlatching mechanism within convenient reach of a user making unobserved unlatching contact therewith through the bottom opening of the v-shape, even though the unlatching mechanism is masked from view.
