Abstract:

An apparatus for shaping boreholes used in seismic operations. A drill body is attached to a drill bit and is movable in axial and rotational directions. Selective operation of the drill body causes a moveable sleeve to operate a reaming bit to extend through a drill body port and into contact with the borehole wall. A cover seals the portion of the port not covered by the reaming bit to prevent loss of a transport fluid within the drill body and to prevent drill cuttings from entering the drill body interior. The cover can be integrated within the movable sleeve or can comprise a separate component. The force exerted by the drill body against the drill bit can be proportional to the force exerted by the reaming bit against the borehole wall. The reaming bit can be operated separately or simultaneously with operation of the drill bit, and can be retracted and reset to perform another shaping operation at a different position within the borehole.

Abstract:

A lathe cut sealing ring includes a substantially cylindrical ring of elastomeric material formed about a central axis. The ring includes a rectangular cross-section and has an inner diameter, an outer diameter, opposite planar upper and lower surfaces, and a plurality of angularly spaced positioning ribs protruding inwardly from the inner diameter. This sealing ring and the groove in which it is located can advantageously be formed with simple and cost-effective lathe cutting operations.

Abstract:

A pump housing assembly includes a housing, a hub portion, and a flange. The housing has an end cowling defining a transition from a central portion of the housing to a transverse end portion. The hub portion extends longitudinally outwardly from the transverse end portion of housing. The flange extends radially outwardly from the outward end of the hub and is in spaced longitudinal relation to the end of the cowling to create a space to receive a head of a mounting bolt. The flange has an outer periphery with a pair of tangentially extending slots having an open end. The space for receiving a head of a mounting bolt is less than the length of a shank of a mounting bolt, to minimize the length of the housing. The slots have a width sufficient to receive the movement of a shank into and out of the open ends of the slots.

Abstract:

A method, apparatus and system for acquiring land seismic data includes acquiring seismic data with a first autonomous seismic data acquisition unit and a second autonomous seismic data acquisition unit wherein each acquisition unit comprises a plurality of digitally controlled temperature-compensated crystal oscillators. Oscillator-based timing signals are acquired that are associated with the plurality of digitally controlled temperature-compensated crystal oscillators and a time correction is determined to apply to the seismic data acquired with the first autonomous seismic data acquisition unit. The time correction is determined using the oscillator-based timing signals from the first and second autonomous seismic data acquisition units.

Abstract:

A device for use in the assembly of fishing flies and in particular the attachment of loose dubbing material to the thread used in making the fishing fly is disclosed. The device comprises an elongated rod which has positioned around a portion of the rod means for holding the rod while permitting the rod to be rotated as desired. On one end of the rod is attached rotating means for rotating the rod at predetermined speeds within the holding means. The other end of the elongated rod has formed thereon gripping means for gripping the thread used in the assembly of the fishing fly in a spaced apart manner. The dubbing is positioned between the spaced apart thread and the elongated rod may be rotated to tightly wrap the thread around a portion of the dubbing. The method for attaching dubbing to a thread using the applicants device is also disclosed. The device may be used in a modified form as a conversation piece and as a pacifier for nervous people such as executives.
