Abstract:

A mounting bracket is provided for mounting pipes between studs of a building. An elongated support member has two elongated sides generally perpendicular to each other and has opposing ends adapted to fasten the support member to studs of a building. A locking bracket encircles the support bracket. The locking bracket has four segments comprising a first base segment, a second flange segment, a third intermediate segment and a fourth distal segment. A flexible hinge line is formed at least between the flange and intermediate segment. The base segment and flange either abutting or are close to adjacent sides of the elongated support member during use with the intermediate segment spanning the distal edges of the sides of the support member. The fourth distal segment overlaps and nests with the first base segment to restrain motion in the plane of the base segment. A latch mechanism restrains the projection from disengaging.

Abstract:

A mounting bracket connects a water pipe fastened to an eared fitting to a support bar in a building. The bracket has an isolator made of a material selected to substantially reduce the transmission of noise and wrapped around the support bar. The bracket has a stiff shell wrapped around a periphery of the support bar and has two opposing ends. The shell is sized to clamp the isolator against the support bar during use as the ends are moved toward each other with sufficient force that there is a tight clamp resulting in little relative movement between the shell and the support during use. The shell has a mounting portion for the eared fitting. The bracket also has a fastening mechanism to hold the ends together and to fasten the eared fitting to the mounting portion during use of the bracket. The fastening mechanism clamps the ends together to restrain relative movement of the shell and support bar. For telescoping support bars an adaptor is interposed between the isolator and the smaller, inner telescoping member of the support bar to make the support bar a uniform size at the location of the bracket.

Abstract:

A plumbing strap is fastened to a building. A tubular insert is placed through a hole in a strap with posts on the tubular insert aligning with cut-outs in the strap to restrict rotation of the tubular insert relative to the strap. A flange on one end of the tubular insert abuts the strap to restrict longitudinal motion of the tubular insert. Latches on the tubular insert extend through the hole in the strap to engage the side of the strap opposite the flange and further restrict longitudinal movement of the tubular insert. A collar is placed over the tubular insert and a pipe extends through the tubular insert and collar. The tubular insert has a base adjacent the flange and a skirt distal from the flange. Longitudinal slits in the base and skirt define resilient members in the base and in the skirt that extend in opposing directions, but that can move inward. The collar screws onto the tubular insert causing abutting surfaces on the collar and on the resilient members to force the resilient members inward to grip the pipe and restrain longitudinal and rotational movement of the pipe relative to the tubular insert and strap.
