Abstract:

A vehicle footrest preferably for a motorcycle provides both an upwardly angled flat surface for comfortably supporting the riders feet while alternately providing a folding footpeg at approximately the same level as the floorboard. The folding footpeg extends laterally from a concavity along the outside edge of the front of the floorboard. When extended, the footpeg lies approximately in the plane of the floorboard which permits the footpeg to be used as a toerest as well as a full foot support. The combination of structures provides a variety of foot positions while maintaining the feet in safe proximity to the foot controls. The footrest allows the rider to quickly shift the position of his feet from floorboard to footpeg and back again with only a small amount of foot movement.

Abstract:

An fixed grating, detector-array type analyzer rapidly multiplexes multiple channels. The analyzer comprises a light source, a detector array-type spectrograph, and an optical multiplexer. The multiplexer can select from one of a plurality of channels. Further, the multiplexer can convolute light passing through it with a reference spectrum for calibration and wavelength drift compensation. Rapid multiplexing is achieved using a fiber optic slit array which "perpendicularly multiplexes" the plurality of channels.

A modular probe is provided to enable introduction of light to a sample to be analyzed by an electro-optical device. Abstract:

The present invention is a multiplexer for use with an apparatus for optically analyzing a sample. This multiplexer includes a body portion having a primary inlet port. The light received through the light inlet port is sent through a first fiber optic bundle which may be rotated by a fiber carriage to any of several outlet fiber couplers which may be connected to various samples. A position optical sensor assures proper alignment between the first fiber optic bundle and the fiber couplers by sensing the position of a chopper disc which is mounted to the rotating fiber carriage. Once light is passed through the sample, it is passed back into the multiplexer through inlet fiber couplers. These additional fiber couplers are linked to a second fiber optic bundle leading to a detector fiber coupler which may be connected to a fixed fiber cable.

The invention is a multiplexer which enables light to be sent to and received from samples for simultaneous analysis. A multiplexer is described which uses a transverse probe to reflect light at an angle into an optical rod. The transverse probe is selectively rotated to transmit light to a second optical rod. Abstract:

A purge module is provided which provides gas to an enclosure at a first flow rate in order to purge the enclosure of harmful gases. After the pressure within the enclosure has reached a predetermined level, a sensor enables gas at a low pressure to be supplied to the enclosure after a predetermined time has passed. The purge module also enables power to be supplied to the device being purged at the same time the purge gas flow rate is changed.
