Abstract:

A process for oligomerizing the olefins present in a Fischer-Tropsch derived condensate containing a mixture of olefins and oxygenates which comprises (a) reducing significantly the oxygenates present in the Fischer-Tropsch condensate; (b) contacting the Fischer-Tropsch derived condensate having significantly reduced oxygenates with an ionic liquid catalyst in an oligomerization zone under oligomerization reaction conditions; and (c) recovering from the oligomerization zone a Fischer-Tropsch derived product having molecules characterized by a higher average molecular weight and increased branching as compared to the Fischer-Tropsch derived condensate.

Abstract:

A method for determining corrosiveness of naphthenic acid in a crude oil feedstock is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a crude oil feedstock containing naphthenic acid; contacting the crude oil feedstock with iron for a period of time at a sufficient temperature for the iron to react with the naphthenic acid, forming iron salts. Under sufficiently high temperatures, at least a portion of the iron salts decompose to form ketone, which can be quantified. Measurements of the ketone can be used to correlate with the amount of iron lost from corrosion given a certain level of naphthenic acid present, giving a measure of the corrosivity of crude oil feedstock.

Abstract:

A substrate bias generator for an integrated circuit has a charge pump driven by an oscillator. The oscillator is enabled and disabled to save power and control the voltage-level itself for the substrate bias. An enabling circuit senses the substrate voltage and enables the oscillator when the substrate voltage rises above a bias set by a programmable reference voltage. The enabling circuit which senses the voltage on the substrate draws no active current from the substrate. The sensing circuit includes a transistor with only its bulk terminal connected to the substrate; the source, gate, and drain of this sensing transistor are not connected to the substrate. A differential comparator compares the output of the sensing transistor to the programmable reference voltage and enables the oscillator when the sensing transistor output is lower than the reference voltage. The sensing transistor attenuates large swings in the substrate voltage to provide the differential comparator with a small voltage swing which keeps the differential comparator operating near its optimum design point. Since no active current is drawn from the substrate when sensing the substrate voltage, no IR voltage drops can develop from the enabling and sensing circuit.

Manual hydraulic override pumps for use with actuators are described herein. An example apparatus includes a manifold including a reservoir port to be fluidly coupled to a reservoir of fluid, a pump port to be fluidly coupled to a pump, a first actuator port to be fluidly coupled to a first chamber of an actuator, and a second actuator port to be fluidly coupled to a second chamber of the actuator. The example apparatus also includes a rotor disposed in a cavity formed in the manifold. The rotor is rotatable between a first actuating position in which the rotor fluidly couples the first actuator port and the pump port, and a second actuating position in which the rotor fluidly couples the second actuator port and the pump port.
