Abstract:
Systems and methods for routing cables in an electronic device are provided. In some embodiments, the electronic device may include a touch sensor having a number of traces, a display component, and a mechanical button, each of which may be coupled to a circuit board via a single flexible circuit cable. This may save valuable space within the electronic device.

Abstract:
Transparent articles for use as outer surfaces of electronic devices and methods therefor are disclosed. A transparent cover can be provided over a display of portable electronic device to provide a protective outer cover over the display. The transparent cover can include material to mark, mask or color a portion of the transparent cover, such portion thereupon becoming opaque. The material can be provided in a recessed portion of an inner surface of the transparent cover, such portion being a portion of the transparent cover that is not over a usable portion of the display. The electronic device can, for example, be a portable electronic device.

Abstract:
An improved tape dispenser which is less likely to jam and which has a blade shield to prevent injury. Centrally of the dispenser there is placed a roll of tape conventionally wound in a spiral. The roll of tape has an outwardly exposed adhesive release surface and an inwardly exposed adhesive coated surface. In the dispenser, the tape is threaded on a dispensing path towards a cutting blade. Typically, the path is defined by a combination of guides terminating with a roller. The roll and the dispensing path are encased within a housing to prevent the exposed adhesive from adhering either to dust or nearby objects. The tape path extends past a severing tape blade. The trigger motion of the handle acts to pivot the tape holder on its hinge and move the severing blade holder. The motion of the tape holder is restricted by a guide, a guide slot and a stop. When the tape holder is in its original position, a blade shield keeps the blade from being exposed.
A mounting apparatus includes a bracket having plural sides adapted to accommodate a board between the sides. First fasteners on the plural sides of the bracket are disposed to connect the board to the bracket, wherein the fasteners are adapted to vertically restrain movement of the board relative to the bracket. At least one second fastener on one of the sides releasably secures the bracket to a mounting surface. A process for mounting a board on a surface includes the steps of fitting a board onto a bracket having plural sides, fastening the board to the bracket with first fasteners, and engaging a second fastener with a mounting surface. The board may be a printed wiring board or a printed wiring assembly. The plural sides may include left, right, back, and front sides. The sides may be perpendicular to each other.
A self-locking mounting method and apparatus are disclosed. A self-locking mounting apparatus comprises a bracket for holding a storage device, a chassis having at least one flange for supporting the bracket, a retaining mechanism which engages the bracket upon insertion of the bracket into the chassis. The retaining mechanism may include a tab on the chassis and at least one latch on the bracket. The latch may be a spring latch. A plurality of flanges protruding from the chassis may be used to support the bracket. A method for mounting a self-locking apparatus includes the steps of attaching a storage device to a bracket, inserting the bracket into a chassis, the bracket being supported by at least one flange on the chassis, and engaging the bracket to the chassis with a retaining mechanism.
