Nancy Thompson was selected as Asheville's "Woman of the Year" in 2005 when she received the Asheville Chamber of Commerce's Athena Leadership Award for "a woman who personifies the highest level of professional excellence." This passion for excellence also drives Nancy to work hard for her clients, making sure she helps them find the best property at the best price. Nancy is actively involved in the Walnut Cove Members Association, which supports a wide range of volunteer and charitable giving activities in Western North Carolina. She also serves on the Walnut Cove Members Association Charitable Gifting Committee and Charity Golf Tournament Committee, which raised over $93,000 last year to help children, education, the arts, and families in need. Nancy applies the same level of energy to her work as she does to her volunteer activities. Before becoming Broker-In-Charge, she was a sales executive for The Cliffs at Walnut Cove ®. She also has a strong corporate background in sales and marketing, having been a top sales person for NCR Corporation early in her career. In addition to being a Walnut Cove Real Estate Broker, Nancy is also co-owner of one of the area's top custom home builders, Thompson Properties, Inc., and is a licensed North Carolina and South Carolina General Contractor. She uses her construction expertise to advise clients on how their lot selection will affect building costs, and helps them wisely choose the best home site. Nancy is a sum cum laude graduate from Brenau University with a B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in Fine Art. During the years she managed community and public relations for Progress Energy, she completed programs at the Leadership Development Center at Duke University, The Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College, and the University of Michigan Business School. Nancy loves to introduce her clients to all Asheville has to offer and to make their transition a fun, rewarding experience. Her strong commitment to serving the community also earned her the "Asheville Chamber of Commerce’s “Volunteer of the Year Award" in 2002.
