Methods and devices for orthopedic templating are presented. In an example embodiment, a template object is displayed on an output device that is also displaying a target object and a reference object. The target object may be displayed at an unknown magnification level, while the reference object is of a known size. By measuring the size of the reference object as displayed, the magnification level of the target object can be determined. Then, the template object or the target object can be sized such that the template object substantially matches at least a section of the target object. Once matched, the template object may be overlaid, transparently or semi-transparently, on or with the target object. The template object may also be rotated or moved so that it aligns with at least the matched part of the target object.
Methods and devices for digital image templating are presented. According to example embodiments, a computing device may match a template image (e.g., an implant) to a target image (e.g., a bone structure). The both the target image and the template image may be displayed on an output of the computing device. The displayed template image may be oriented with respect to the displayed target image according to at least a scale (e.g., a magnification level of the template image). Based on received input, at least the scale of the displayed template image may be adjusted so that the adjusted displayed template image substantially fits the part of the displayed target image. Then, based on this fit, a physical template size may be selected from a discrete range of physical template sizes.
A radiographic system may be configured to capture a first radiograph containing a first image of an object with the source and the receiver in a first orientation with respect to one another. The system may store the first radiograph and metadata representing vertical and horizontal positions of the first orientation. At least one of the source and the receiver may be moved so that the source and the receiver are in a second orientation with respect to one another. A second radiograph containing a second image of the object may be captured with the source and the receiver in the second orientation. The second radiograph may be stored in memory along with metadata representing vertical and horizontal positions of the second orientation. Based on the captured radiographs, a magnification of the object of interest, as represented by the first image or the second image, may be determined.
A device may include a three-dimensional image sensor configured to scan an area including a closed or partially closed container, an output display, and a controller. The controller may be configured to: recognize an instrument that is detected by the three-dimensional image sensor, where a first section of the instrument is located inside of the container and a second section of the instrument is located outside of the container, and represent, on the output display, three-dimensional positions and orientations of the instrument, where a first position and a first orientation of the first section of the instrument is inferred from a second position and a second orientation of the second section of the instrument.
