Abstract:

A side dump body including a plurality of side dump body units pivotally mounted on a truck or trailer frame. Each of the side dump body units may be individually pivotally moved from a transport position to a dumping position wherein the contents of the dump body units may be dumped from the side of a truck or trailer. A material compactor is provided at the upper end of each of the body units for compacting material within the body unit. The material compactor may be moved from its operative compaction position wherein it overlies the upper end of the body unit to an inoperative position at one side of the body unit so that the body unit may be moved to its dumping position without interference from the material compactor.

Abstract:

A side dump body truck or trailer comprising a body pivotally mounted on a wheeled frame and fashioned so as to enable the material within the trailer body to be dumped from either side of the trailer. The body is constructed of rear, intermediate and front bulkheads having bottom wall and side wall portions in abutting relationship therewith and being welded thereto. The front and rear bulkheads are preferably angled upwardly and outwardly so as to increase the carrying capacity of the body. The bottom of the body is preferably V-shaped to increase the carrying capacity of the body.

Abstract:

A side dump body including a plurality of side dump bodies pivotally mounted on a truck or trailer frame. Each of the side dump bodies may be individually pivotally moved from a transport position to a dumping position through the use of a single hydraulic cylinder whereby the contents of the dump body units may be dumped from the side of the truck or trailer. The design of the dump body is such that it has increased carrying capacity and is lightweight and less expensive to manufacture. Further, the end walls, side walls and bottom of each of the side dump bodies are secured together by an adhesive or glue rather than welding.

Abstract:

A wall extension apparatus is movably positioned on the upper end of a side dump body to increase the carrying capacity thereof. The extension apparatus may be pivotally moved from a transport position to either a first side dumping position to a second side dumping position. When in its transport position, the extension apparatus extends upwardly from the upper ends of the side dump body. Various embodiments of the invention are disclosed.
