Abstract:
Systems and methods for separating native heart valve leaflets attached together by a fixation device. The system has elongate shaft including a proximal end portion, a distal end portion and a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. The elongate shaft is configured for transvascular delivery of the distal end portion to a native heart valve. A balloon is disposed at the distal end portion of the elongate shaft, and the balloon is inflatable from a collapsed condition to an inflated condition. At least one snare lumen extends along at least a portion of the balloon, the at least one snare lumen having an exit port defined therein. A snare is deployable through the exit port from a delivery position within the at least one snare lumen to an extended position extending beyond the exit port. The snare in the extended position is configured to capture the fixation device.

Abstract:
Delivery systems, methods and associated devices to facilitate delivery and deployment of a heart implant. Such delivery systems and methods of delivery include use of a pair of magnetic catheters, including an anchor delivery catheter carrying an anchor, which can be stacked with or can be axially offset from the magnetic head. Such systems further include use of a puncturing guidewire advanceable through the magnetic head of the anchor delivery catheter to establish access to a chamber of a heart and which is attached to a bridging element such that continued advancement of the guidewire draws a bridging element attached to the first anchor across the chamber of the heart while the bridging element remains covered by the magnetically coupled catheters. Methods and devices herein also allow for cutting and removal of a bridge element of a deployed heart implant.

Abstract:
A system configured to detach an interventional implant from a cardiac valve includes a guide catheter and a capture mechanism routable through the guide catheter. The capture mechanism comprises a capture hypotube with a container portion/space configured to receive an interventional implant connected to cardiac valve tissue. The capture mechanism also includes a cutting arm axially moveable relative to the capture hypotube. The capture hypotube and the cutting arm each include cutting elements that are brought together upon actuation of the cutting arm to thereby cut the cardiac valve tissue surrounding the interventional implant to free the implant from the cardiac valve.

A device configured to cut leaflet tissue at a cardiac valve may comprise a guide catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, the guide catheter being positionable at a cardiac valve. The device may further include a cutting mechanism routable through the guide catheter and configured to extend from the distal end of the guide catheter, the cutting mechanism configured to cut a portion of leaflet tissue of the cardiac valve. Finally, the device may comprise a handle coupled to the proximal end of the guide catheter, the handle comprising at least one control operatively connected to the cutting mechanism such that the at least one control is configured to provide selective actuation of the cutting mechanism.

Fixation system for fixation of leaflets of a heart valve including an implantable fixation device having a first arm and a second arm, a first proximal element moveable relative to the first arm between a first position and a second position, and a second proximal element moveable relative to the second arm between a first position and a second position. The fixation system includes a delivery device having a catheter, a first proximal element line and a second proximal element line, and a handle having a first and second proximal element line handles coupled to the first proximal element line and the second proximal element line, respectively. The handle can include an interlock moveable between an unlocked position and a locked position.

Richard Childs, an assistant surgeon general and lung specialist at the National Institutes of Health, told The Wall Street Journal Friday that the patients were treated with the experimental drug in a Japanese hospital.
