Parag H. Mathuria - Sidney OH, US
Daniel L. McSweeney - Sidney OH, US
  • Assignee:
Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. - Sidney OH
  • International Classification:
    F04B 35/00
  • US Classification:
    417363, 417902, 4174105, 41742314
  • Abstract:
A compressor includes a shell, a compression mechanism, a motor, a base member, and a mounting foot. The compression mechanism is disposed within the shell and the motor is drivingly engaged with the compression mechanism. The base member is coupled to the shell and a mounting foot is fixed to the base member. The mounting foot includes a mounting aperture extending therethrough and a slot intersecting the aperture that attenuates vibrations within an operating frequency range of the compressor.
  • Compressor Having Counterweight Cover

  • US Patent:
    20110033324, Feb 10, 2011
  • Filed:
    Aug 9, 2010
  • Appl. No.:
    12/852757
  • Inventors:
James A. SCHAEFER - Troy OH, US
Stephen M. SEIBEL - Celina OH, US
Daniel L. MCSWEENEY - Sidney OH, US
Robert J. COMPARIN - Camden OH, US
  • International Classification:
    F04D 29/40
    F04D 29/05
  • US Classification:
    41742314, 4174237
  • Abstract:
A counterweight cover for a compressor is provided and may include an annular body having a recess at least partially defined by an outer circumferential portion, an inner circumferential portion, and an upper portion connecting the outer circumferential portion and the inner circumferential portion. A suction baffle may be disposed on the annular body and may direct a flow of suction gas within the compressor.
  • Scroll Machine Sound Attenuation

    view source
  • US Patent:
    54891981, Feb 6, 1996
  • Filed:
    Apr 21, 1994
  • Appl. No.:
    8/231620
  • Inventors:
Robert J. Comparin - Troy OH
Kent E. Logan - Englewood OH
  • Assignee:
    Copeland Corporation - Sidney OH
  • International Classification:
    F01C 104
  • US Classification:
    418 555
  • Abstract:
A scroll-type machine has a motion controlling member for preventing relative rotation between a first and a second scroll member while allowing relative orbiting motion therebetween. The scroll-type machine includes a novel arrangement of a spring or other flexible member for biasing the second scroll member in a torsional direction. Biasing of the second scroll member operates to reduce the mechanical impact noise or rattle which is caused by the vibration of the machines operating components.

  • US Patent:
    53421841, Aug 30, 1994
  • Filed:
    May 4, 1993
  • Appl. No.:
    8/057302
  • Inventors:
Robert J. Comparin - Troy OH
Harry B. Clendenin - Sidney OH
Kent E. Logan - Englewood OH
    Mark Bass - Sidney OH
Steven C. Fairbanks - Sidney OH
    Jean-Luc Caillat - Dayton OH
  • Assignee:
    Copeland Corporation - Sidney OH
  • International Classification:
    F01C 104
    B23P 1500
  • US Classification:
    418 552
  • Abstract:
A scroll machine designed to provide an unbalanced loading of the orbiting scroll and anti-rotation coupling in a direction which adds to the moment caused by contact forces between the scroll wraps during normal operation. The loading decreases the sound level of the machine and is achieved through the use of unbalanced flank gas leakage forces and flank contact forces, which are created by providing a targeted initial swing radius bias and/or a generating radius bias to either one or both of the scroll wraps. The generating radius biasing can be singular or plural on a given scroll wrap set. A number of different techniques for obtaining such biasing are disclosed.
  • Compressor Oil Separation And Assembly Method

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20170268515, Sep 21, 2017
  • Filed:
    Mar 8, 2017
  • Appl. No.:
    15/453469
  • Inventors:
    - Sidney OH, US
Robert J. COMPARIN - Camden OH, US
  • Assignee:
Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. - Sidney OH
  • International Classification:
    F04C 29/02
    F04C 29/00
    F04C 18/02
  • Abstract:
A compressor may include a shell, a compression mechanism, a bearing housing, a shroud, a stator, and a rotor. The compression mechanism includes a scroll member that is attached to the shell. The shroud is rotatably fixed relative to the shell and attached to the bearing housing. The stator is fixed relative to the shell. The shroud may have an annular body including an inner surface defining a center shroud passage. The stator may have an outer surface defining a stator passage. An outer surface of the rotor and an inner surface of the stator may be spaced apart and define a discharge gap in fluid communication with the center shroud passage and the stator passage. A continuous passage may extend between a top surface of the scroll member and a bottom surface of the shroud and may be in fluid communication with the shroud passage.
