Abstract:

A novel graphical display apparatus (and methods) for motor vehicles. The apparatus has a display coupled to an interior portion of a motor vehicle and facing a driver of the motor vehicle. The display is coupled to an output for identifying a revolution per minute (RPM) value of an engine of the motor vehicle. The display has a first graphical display portion of the display for outputting a current gear indication of a current gear. The current gear is one of a plurality of gears in the motor vehicle. A second graphical display portion of the display for outputting one or more indication(s) of a past gear is coupled to the first portion of the display. The past gear is one of the plurality of gears in the motor vehicle that is used before the current gear. A third graphical display portion is also coupled to the display. The third display portion outputs an RPM value indication that corresponds to a current RPM value of the engine of the motor vehicle.

Abstract:

An apparatus for navigating through one of a plurality of panels on a display in a moving vehicle. The apparatus includes a display coupled to a processing device and memory. The display faces a user of a motorized vehicle. The apparatus also includes a graphical user interface on the display, which comprises a plurality of panels numbered from 1 through N, where N is an integer greater than 2. A selector device is coupled to the graphical user interface through the processing device. The selector device is within a vicinity of a user of the motorized vehicle. The selector device is adapted to display any one or more of the plurality of panels from the first panel numbered 1 through the Nth panel numbered N by moving the selector device in a first direction. The selector device is also adapted to select one of the panels being displayed by moving the selector device in a second direction.

Abstract:

A rattle-free rail construction includes a plurality of vertical line posts, each having an H cross-sectional configuration defining vertical channels in the post. Each channel includes a pair of opposed, vertically extending arcuate grooves which are of the correct diameter to properly accept self-tapping screws. Another pair of opposed, vertically extending retention grooves are disposed in each channel, parallel and adjacent to the arcuate grooves. Horizontal bars of the railing construction are secured with the ends thereof in opposed channels of adjacent line posts, the bars being spaced apart in each channel by post inserts which snappingly engage the retention grooves in the channel. Double-sided foam tape is applied to the top and bottom ends of the horizontal bars, and the entire assembly is secured in a channel by joining a top subrail onto top of post by means of screws received into the top openings of the arcuate grooves.

Abstract:

A railing construction comprises a laterally disposed sub rail member which supports a top rail, and a support bracket at either end of the sub rail for securing the sub rail to a wall or post. The bracket includes a generally vertically disposed member which is provided with a bolt hole through the upper end thereof. A pair of generally parallel web members extend normally from the lower end of the vertical member, the lower web member extending farther outward and including an obliquely upwardly extending flange at the distal end thereof. The slot between the two web members is adapted to receive the sub rail therein only when the bracket is canted downwardly toward the sub rail. As a bolt passed through the bolt hole is tightened into a wall or post, the canted bracket approaches vertical, and the flange and the lower surface of the upper web lever the sub rail into rigid engagement.
