Abstract:The present invention is directed toward multilayer pressure-sensitive adhesive constructions with improved convertibility and aging. In one embodiment, the multilayer constructions have one layer formed of a first adhesive composition having a first glass transition temperature, and also having a tangent delta greater than about 0. 5 at 10 radians per second at 20Â C. , and a storage modulus greater than about 3Ã10 dynes/cm at 10 radians per second at 20Â C. At least a second adhesive layer is provided in the construction, the second adhesive layer comprising a second adhesive composition with a second glass transition temperature.

Abstract:A double sided tape for detachably mounting a flexible printing plate to a flexographic printing press cylinder includes pressure-sensitive adhesive layers on opposed sides of a coextruded multilayer carrier having a core formed of a thermoplastic elastomer containing a uniform distribution of voids and one or more skin layers formed of film-forming thermoplastic polymer. The cellular thermoplastic elastomer is constructed to accommodate compressibility loads imposed during printing and to resist shear and tensile loads imposed during tape removal.

Abstract:Heat resistant, pressure sensitive adhesive labels, tapes and similar constructions are provided, and comprise a heat resistant face stock laminated to a pressure sensitive adhesive and a release liner. In one embodiment, the face stock is a crosslinked polyolefin. In another embodiment, the face stock is a unitary coextrudate of two or more layers of polymeric material, an outer layer of which is a heat resistant polymer such as nylon 6. The heat resistant constructions are useful as electrophotographically printable labels and tapes.
