Abstract:

A ball valve cartridge is disclosed. It is especially well suited for freezeless hydrant applications and any other application where it is positioned remotely from a handle or other actuating element. The cartridge contains a ball valve element and an internal stem with a key for rotating the ball valve element between open and closed positions. The stem has rotational stop elements that limit rotational movement of the stem and the ball valve element. In a yard hydrant application, a drain valve can be added to regulate the opening and closing of the drain hole. It has an operational range of a quarter turn or ninety degrees.

Abstract:

A dual inlet ball valve for use in controlling the flow of gas to a log lighting device used in a fireplace comprises a valve body having a horizontal inlet connector, a vertical inlet connector, a outlet connector and a valve stem support structure. A horizontal inlet flow passageway extends through the horizontal inlet connector in horizontal alignment with an outlet flow passageway extending through the outlet connector. A vertical inlet flow passageway extends through the vertical inlet connector in vertical alignment with a stem receiving bore in the valve stem support structure. A ball having a bore hole extending therethrough is rotatably supported between the horizontal inlet flow passageway and the outlet flow passageway on valve seats in a ball support structure. A valve stem engaging the ball is operably engageable to rotate the ball from an open position to a closed position. A connecting flow passageway extending between a flared portion of the valve body wall and the ball support structure allows the vertical inlet flow passageway to flow communicate with the horizontal inlet flow passageway.

Abstract:

An anti-siphon and freezeless water hydrant comprises a unitary cast metal housing which incorporates a hose bib, and a drain opening cylinder equipped with drain orifices and a drain valve seat. The housing is shaped and labeled to assure installation so that the hose bib is higher than the drain opening cylinder. A unitary valve stem includes an integral drain valve element which selectively engages or disengages the inside of the drain opening cylinder to shut off or open the drain orifices and a water valve element which selectively engages or disengages a water valve seat within the hydrant to act as a water valve. When the water valve is fully closed, the drain valve element opens the drain opening cylinder to permit water trapped within the hydrant to drain through the the drain orifices. The hose bib is equipped with a vacuum valve to prevent back-siphoning of fluids from a hose attached to the hydrant.

Abstract:

A quarter turn ball valve assembly comprises a valve housing having cylindrical collar, a fluid inlet in said housing, and a fluid outlet in said housing. A ball having an internal passageway is supported for rotation in a collar in the housing and rotation of a valve stem supported in the housing causes rotation of the ball. A free end of the valve stem is within a collar and does not extend beyond the collar. The collar has cut-outs defining tabs. A handle engages the valve stem and wings on the handle restrict engagement between the handle and the valve stem to specific relative angular orientations therebetween, to prevent the handle from being secured to the valve stem in the wrong angular relationship.
