Abstract:

A Universal Serial Bus (USB) modem/Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) device is provided that when connected to a host device, presents itself as an Ethernet endpoint to the host device, without requiring additional software/drivers to be downloaded to the host device. Embedded in the USB modem/WWAN device are various modules that provide functionality allowing either automatic connection to the Internet or redirection to a local Web User Interface (UI) that a user may employ to configure the USB modem/WWAN device and/or manually connect to the Internet. Additionally, the USB modem/WWAN device employs predetermined rules to determine whether or not/how the redirection occurs, including in scenarios where wireless connectivity to the Internet is unavailable.

A mobile telecommunication apparatus, such as a CDMA modem for use with a host computer comprises a microprocessor, an interface device communicating with the microprocessor to interface with the host computer, a memory connected to the microprocessor having a ROM area and a RAM area, the ROM area storing a modem protocol code for operation of the modem and a testing code for testing the modem, an antenna, a RF/IF device connected to the antenna and communicating with the microprocessor, and a code selection switch connected to the microprocessor to select one of a normal mode and a service mode. Upon selection of the normal mode, the modem protocol code is executed, and upon selection of the service mode, the testing code is executed.

Abstract:

Disclosed is a method and system for an infrastructure commodity savings account program in the context of supplying an infrastructure commodity to a plurality of designated premises for consumption. The method includes receiving a purchase request from a customer for purchasing the infrastructure commodity for future use and selling a quantity of the infrastructure commodity to the customer at a first time with a condition that the infrastructure commodity will not be supplied for consumption for a period from the sale. The method further includes saving the sold quantity of the infrastructure commodity in an infrastructure commodity savings account of the customer; receiving a withdrawal request for withdrawal of the infrastructure commodity from the infrastructure commodity savings account; and processing withdrawal of the infrastructure commodity from the infrastructure commodity savings account at a second time. In the system and method, at least one of receiving the purchase request, selling a quantity, saving the sold quantity, receiving withdrawal request and processing is performed by one or more computing device comprising a processor and a memory.

Abstract:

A server may be bypassed in the context of retransmitting data packets, when such data packets are missing or lost due to interference or some other network error. Decreased throughput and other disadvantages associated with data packet retransmission are avoided by negating the need to transmit retransmission request packets to the server and retransmitting a missing/lost data packet from the server. Instead, retransmission request packets may be sent to a router, and the router may respond by directly retransmitting the missing/lost data packet to the client, where prior to retransmitting the missing/lost data packet, it is determined whether the data packet is a Transport Control Protocol or User Datagram Protocol packet, and proceeding with the retransmitting only if the data packets is a Transport Control Protocol packet.
