Abstract:
A safety lock-out to prevent rotation of a rotary actuator is described. When an axial distance between a first and a second portion of an actuated mechanism exceeds a selected distance, the lock-out prevents the rotation. The safety lock-out includes a shaft rotatably connected to the first portion and axially movable relative to the second portion. A locking member is adapted to lock the rotary actuator by placing a protrusion in a notch of the shaft, thus preventing rotation of the shaft. The device also includes a spring member urging the locking member in the locking position, and an unlocking member adapted to urge the locking member in the unlocked position when the selected distance is not exceeded.

Abstract:
A control handle for a full thickness resection device is disclosed. In an embodiment for the control handle of the present invention, the control handle includes a body and a staple firing assembly coupled to the body. The staple firing assembly includes a rotatable staple firing ring, a worm gear assembly rotatably engaged with the staple firing ring, and a flexible drive shaft coupled to the worm gear assembly. In an embodiment for a method of the present invention, a method for actuating a full thickness resection device is provided. The method includes the steps of rotating a staple firing ring in a first direction and actuating a worm gear assembly in a first operative mode in response to the rotation of the staple firing ring in the first direction, the worm gear assembly is coupled to the staple firing ring. A flexible drive shaft is rotated in the first direction, the flexible drive shaft being coupled to the worm gear assembly, and torsional energy is stored in the flexible drive shaft during rotation of the flexible drive shaft in the first direction. The worm gear assembly is actuated in a second operative mode and a release rate of the stored torsional energy in the flexible drive shaft is controlled by the worm gear assembly.

Abstract:
A control mechanism for a resectioning device, comprises a first actuator coupled to a flexible drive shaft for actuating a first mechanism when operated in a first direction and for actuating, when operated in a second direction, a second mechanism and a first lockout mechanism coupled to the first actuator for preventing actuation of the first actuator in the second direction before a predetermined amount of actuation in the first direction has been completed. Furthermore, mechanisms are provided to control the release during operation in a second direction of torsional energy stored in a flexible drive shaft during operation in a first direction.
Composition And Method To Promote Human Hair Growth
This invention relates to a composition of matter for producing hair growth and preventing hair loss in humans and the method for using said composition. The composition comprises four complexes and a carrier liquid, mixed together and added to any topical treatment or produced as an ingestible dietary supplement. Complexes 1, 2, and 3 are comprised of substances that prevent hair loss while Complex 4 promotes hair growth. Complex 1 is comprised of octyl butyrate and glutaminpeptides. Complex 2 comprises a mixture of minerals, plant extracts, vitamin B6, and linolenic acid. Complex 3 comprises a mixture of extract, emu oil, a source of silicon, and a blend of amino acids. Complex 4 comprises a mixture of several plant extracts. The product should be used by the consumer at regular intervals, preferably 5 to 7 times per week in the form of a serum.
A buffered acid composition created by the combination of liquid ammonia and an acid and a method for making the composition. The buffered acid composition is for use as a cleaning agent and for balancing the pH of a fluid.
Composition For Denaturing And Breaking Down Friction-Reducing Polymer And For Destroying Other Oil Well Contaminants
A composition and method for breaking down and denaturing friction-reducing compound introduced into the ground during the drilling of oil wells and for destroying other contaminants and biohazards naturally present within and artificially introduced into oil wells, which are formed as a result of the drilling and pumping processes. The composition comprises several species of oxidizing agent compounds that are effective in breaking down hydrogen sulfide produced by bacteria as well as the friction-reducing polymer used during drilling and several other organic compounds.
