Abstract:

In a graphical user interface for accessing a large number of files, such as text files, graphics files, or spreadsheets, a system allows quick glances of âthumbnailsâ or highly reduced versions of the files. When a folder is opened, every file in the folder is opened as a background operation and thumbnail data, such as a reduced image or text summary of the file, is derived and retained in a cache folder for quick access. When a cursor is touched, without a mouse-click, to a particular icon in the opened folder, the thumbnail for the file identified by the icon is accessed from the cache folder and displayed.

An HDLC formatter and a message processing core exchange messages over a high speed message exchange interface. The interface includes a memory shared by the HDLC formatter and the message processing core. A handshaking arrangement is used to coordinate message storage and retrieval in the shared memory by the HDLC formatter and the message processing core with minimal utilization of processing resources of the message processing core. Abstract:

A constant force dock compensator that provides an mooring system for floating docks. The dock compensator is comprised of constant force power springs, a reel around which sufficient lengths of cable are wound, and a case containing the springs, cables and reel. The dock compensator is attached underneath a floating dock. The cables are withdrawn from the dock compensator and attached to weights placed on the floor of the body of water. The springs maintain a constant pull-force on the cables to hold the dock in place, and the cables automatically dispense or retract to compensate for changes in water level. Thereby, the dock has some leeway in terms of movement in response thereto, but is eventually stabilized by the dock compensator.

Abstract:

A communication technique for synchronizing a set of radio nodes is described. In this communication technique, the radio node arbitrates (e.g., using a precision time protocol or PTP) with the other radio nodes based on a selection technique to select a synchronization master in the set of radio nodes. This synchronization master may be selected to have a predefined performance based on a type of communication environment of the set of radio nodes. For example, the type of communication environment may include overlap between at least one of the radio nodes in the set of radio nodes and a macrocell in a cellular-telephone network, or may exclude overlap between the set of radio nodes and the macrocell. Moreover, the synchronization master may specify time, frequency, and phase synchronization for the set of radio nodes. Thus, when the synchronization master is different from the radio node, the radio node synchronizes with the synchronization master.
