Abstract:

Provided is a method and apparatus for storing of a sensor cable used with a medical device. The medical device may include a retraction device that is activated by depressing a lever. Once the lever is depressed, the sensor cable may automatically wind itself around a spool inside of the medical device. Additionally, an automatic stop feature prevents a sensor cable from retracting without depression of the lever, thus maintaining the exact length of cable required to connect a monitor to the monitoring site on a patient. The retraction of the sensor cable may allow for storage of the cable in the monitor itself, or may allow for storage of the cable into the retraction device, which may be detachable from the monitor.

Abstract:

A system and method for regulating data transmission between a source node and a destination node is disclosed herein. The present method contemplates monitoring system performance so as to detect when the system enters an overloaded state. Such detection may be effected by, for example, determining the extent of the time interval during which instructions are retained in a queue at the destination node awaiting execution. When this interval exceeds a maximum queuing time, the system is deemed to be in an overloaded state. Upon entry into an overloaded state, data transmission from the source node is suspended pending recovery of the system from the overloaded state. In a preferred implementation, overload probe messages are periodically inserted into a message queue at the destination node. When such an overload probe message is determined to have been retained in the message queue in excess of the maximum queuing time, the system is deemed to be in an overloaded state and data transmission is suspended as described above. If it is subsequently determined that an overload probe message has been retained in the message queue for less than the maximum queuing time, data transmission from the source node is resumed.

Abstract:

A modular patio furniture assembly and tool-free method of assemblage includes at least one outdoor club chair, at least one patio sofa, and a garden table. The patio furniture includes multiple panels, legs, feet, and cushions that detachably attach through a series of strategically positioned pegs and hooks at their edges. These connecting pegs and hooks detachably mate with corresponding cavities and slots at the edges of the panels and the termini of the legs and feet in a sliding, friction fit locking relationship. The snap, friction-fit connectivity of the connectors can be accomplished by a non-skilled user with no tools. In this manner, the furniture assembly permits rapid assembly, disassembly, and reassembly to put together a variety of furniture configurations. The assemblage of the patio furniture requires no tools to assemble and can be carried out at a location remote from the factory where the patio furniture is manufactured.

Abstract:

An finally mountable intelligent tire pressure management system (iTPMS) capable of real-time tire pressure monitoring, vehicle load detection, and automatic tire inflation and deflation for maintaining optimal tire pressure in a commercial vehicle. Additional functions include counting tire rotations for calculating and recording distance travelled for each tire, and detecting wheel sliding due to locked-up tires. The system includes a chassis-mounted control box connecting to the vehicle air supply, an external hubcap cover-mounted dual wheel valve apparatus integrated with a rotary union assembly that connects through the external bracket mounting structure holding the air tubes to the control box. The inflation/deflation supporting dual wheel valve apparatus has an embedded electronic unit that monitors individual tire pressure and temperature in real time, and communicates with the control box over the power and data line. Furthermore an external vehicle weight sensor interfacing with the control box provides the system with the current vehicle load information. With readily available real time tire pressure data and current vehicle load information, this system can intelligently adjusts tire pressure to the desired level when necessary and, as a result, prolongs tire life, improves fuel economy, reduces the vehicle maintenance costs, and promptly alerts the driver of low, leaky or flat tire conditions for enabling the driver to take immediate corrective actions.
