Abstract:

Comminuted coal-oil mixtures are provided which may be maintained in a homogeneous state by the addition of a polyethoxylated, straight chain aliphatic quaternary ammonium compound corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## wherein R. sub. 1 and R. sub. 2 are each aliphatic groups having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms, wherein y and z are integers having a value of 1 or greater, the sum of y and z being between 2 and 15, and wherein X is an anion selected from the group consisting of CH. sub. 3 COO. sup. -, Cl. sup. -, BO. sub. 3. sup. -, and (CH. sub. 3). sub. 2 SO. sub. 4. sup. -.

A process for purifying calcium carbonate ore by the removal of silicate impurities from the ore by reverse flotation. The process achieves high yields and low acid insoluble content of the calcium carbonate product by employing novel collectors. These novel collectors which characterize the invention comprise organo-nitrogen compounds including propoxylated quaternary ammonium compounds, unsymmetrical dialkyl dimethyl quaternary ammonium compounds and dialkyl hexahydropyrimidine compounds.

Abstract:

Compositions containing ether diamine and salts thereof with N-acylsarcosines are disclosed. The ether diamine salts of N-acylsarcosines have the formula: [R. sub. 1 O(CH. sub. 2). sub. 3 NH(CH. sub. 2). sub. 3 NH. sub. 2 ]. [HO. sub. 2 CCH. sub. 2 (CH. sub. 3)NOCR. sub. 2 ] wherein R. sub. 1 is an aliphatic group containing from about 6 to about 18 carbon atoms and R. sub. 2 is an aliphatic group containing from about 8 to about 18 carbon atoms. Also disclosed are fuel oil compositions containing said ether diamine and salts thereof, and a method for inhibiting corrosion utilizing said ether diamine salts.

Abstract:

A fast packet switch comprising one buffer directly connected between a plurality of input ports and a plurality of output ports to effect rapid throughput of data packets. A pointer to a location in the buffer is allocated by a buffer manager upon receipt of notification of an incoming packet at the receiving input port and the input port delivers the packet as it is received to the location designated by the pointer. After the data packet is received, the input port delivers the pointer and a destination address for the packet to a router, which selects one of the plurality of output ports based on the destination address. The router queues the pointer in a queue for the selected output port. The output port then retrieves the data packet from the buffer using the pointer to determine the location, and transmits the data packet. After the transmission is complete, the output port returns the pointer to the buffer manager.
