Abstract:

This invention provides a single phase silicone acrylate formulation that resists phase separation and includes (A) at least one of a silicone, an acrylate, and combinations thereof. The single phase silicone acrylate formulation also includes (B) a silicone acrylate hybrid compatibilizing agent including silicone functionality and (meth)acrylate functionality and that is the reaction product of a silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition, a (meth)acrylate, and an initiator. A method of minimizing phase separation of the single phase silicone acrylate formulation includes the step of combining (A) and (B) to form the single phase silicone acrylate formulation.

A silicone acrylate hybrid composition includes the reaction product of a silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and an initiator. The silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition includes acrylate or methacrylate functionality. A method of making the hybrid composition includes polymerizing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer and the silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition in the presence of the initiator.

A release-modifier composition comprises a capped polydiorganosiloxane-(MQ resin) copolymer, which comprises a macromolecule having an MQ resin portion covalently bonded to a polydiorganosiloxane portion. An M unit typically has the formula RSiOand a Q unit typically has the formula SiO, wherein Ris an independently selected substituent. Abstract:

A process for preparing silicone emulsions is disclosed based on using an ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer as the emulsifier. The silicone emulsions comprise: A) 0.5 wt % to 95 wt % of a silicone resin or pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), B) 0.1 to 90 wt % of a ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer, and sufficient amount of water to sum to 100 weight percent. The present disclosure further relates to a process for making a silicone resin emulsion comprising: I) forming a dispersion of; A) 100 parts of a silicone resin or PSA, B) 5 to 100 parts of a ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer, II) admixing a sufficient amount of water to the dispersion from step I) to form an emulsion, III) optionally, further shear mixing the emulsion.
