An input/output (I/O) controller in an I/O system processes I/O requests from a host computer to a plurality of I/O devices. The I/O controller generates an interrupt to the host computer and reports a plurality of completed I/O requests from the I/O devices when at least one condition of the I/O system is met. A first condition of the I/O system comprises a predetermined ratio between the total number of unreported I/O completions by the I/O devices and the total number of remaining I/O requests from the host computer. A second condition comprises the expiration of a timer, which starts when the number of remaining I/O requests left to process for any individual I/O device reaches a predetermined minimum limit.
Techniques For Attaching A Heat Sink Assembly To A Circuit Board Component

Abstract:
A circuit board module has a circuit board, a component mounted to the circuit board, and a heat sink assembly. The heat sink assembly includes a base member having a first edge and a second edge. The base member is configured to operate as a thermal conduit between a first location proximate to the component and a second location distal to the component. The heat sink assembly further includes a first rail member coupled to the base member along the first edge of the base member, a second rail member coupled to the base member along the second edge of the base member, and an actuation mechanism coupled to the base member. The actuation mechanism is configured to move portions of the members toward each other when the base member resides at the first location to fasten the base member to the component.
Techniques For Providing Increased Flexibility To Input/Output Banks With Respect To Supply Voltages

US Classification:

Abstract:
Techniques are provided for increasing flexibility to I/O banks with respect to supply voltages. Multiple supply voltages can be provided to a bank of I/O pins. Separate I/O pins residing in an I/O bank are driven by buffers that are coupled to different supply voltages. Dedicated I/O pins are driven by buffers with pre-selected supply voltages. The dedicated I/O pins can be grouped together into the same I/O bank providing greater flexibility to drive signals on I/O pins in other I/O banks at different voltages. Also, a dual mode input buffer can drive an input signal to a voltage determined by one of two possible supply voltage levels. In addition, power on reset circuits for an I/O bank can monitor the voltage of two or more supply voltages.
Integrated Circuit Serializers With Two-Phase Global Master Clocks
Integrated circuit serializer circuitry is provided that converts parallel data to serial data on an integrated circuit. A two-phase global serializer master clock generator uses a four-phase internal clock to generate a two-phase global serializer master clock. The two-phase global serializer master clock is distributed globally on the integrated circuit using a distribution path. The integrated circuit has multiple serial communications channels each of which has an associated serializer. Each serializer contains circuitry that derives a number of clock signals from the two phases of the global serializer master clock. Each serializer uses the derived clocks in converting parallel data to serial data for transmission over its associated serial communications channel. The serializers each contain two smaller serializers that convert first and second sets of parallel data to first and second serial outputs. A 2:1 serializer in each serializer merges the first and second serial outputs.

Abstract:
A control assembly controls removal of a circuit board from a chassis. The control assembly includes a support member configured to fasten to the circuit board, and a handle pivotally attached to the support member. The handle is configured to swing from an opened position to a closed position relative to the support member during installation of the circuit board within the chassis, and from the closed position to the opened position during removal of the circuit board from the chassis. The control assembly further includes a button configured to move between a biased position and a depressed position relative to the support member. The button is further configured to (i) inhibit removal of the circuit board from the chassis when the button is in the biased position, and (ii) enable removal of the circuit board from the chassis when the button is in the depressed position.
Differential Bang-Bang Phase Detector (Bbpd) With Latency Reduction

US Classification:

Abstract:
Bang-bang phase detection (BBPD) methods and circuits are presented for providing low latency, low jitter phase detection for use in high data-rate applications. A shortened data-path implementation of BBPD methods and circuits provides low-latency production of two output signals including alternating samples of the input signal. Combinational logic circuitry is also provided to produce a clock-data recovery (CDR) signal indicative of the phase of the input signal with respect to a clock signal. The use of differential signals throughout the BBPD timing circuitry provides for the production of a low jitter CDR signal.

Abstract:
A circuit board assembly includes a circuit board, and a connector supported by the circuit board. The connector is configured to electrically connect with a pluggable transceiver module having a retention post. The circuit board assembly further includes a cage supported by the circuit board. The cage includes a cage body defining (i) a circuit board side which faces the circuit board, (ii) an opposing side which faces away from the circuit board, and (iii) a cavity within which the module substantially resides during module operation. The connector is substantially disposed within the cavity. The cage further includes a tab is configured to engage the retention post of the module when the module substantially resides within the cavity defined by the cage body. The tab resides on the opposing side defined by the cage body. Such an assembly enables installation of the module with its belly side up.
