Abstract:

Toric contact lenses are provided with markings that enable identification of the offset between the cylindrical axis of the toric zone and the ballast axis. Surfaces of the lenses include two markings, a first identifiable marking that is aligned with the cylindrical axis, and a second identifiable marking that is aligned with the ballast axis.

Abstract:

An assembly for orienting and fixturing an array of contact lenses in a lens-fixturing tray to enable automated picking of the lenses includes an array of tubes to which a first support tray having an array of lens receptacles each having a respective contact lens therein is removably mounted. A lens-fixturing tray having an array of lens receptacles is removably mounted to the other end of the tubes and the assembly is rotated and submerged in a fluid bath whereby the lenses release from the first support tray and float downwardly through a respective tube coming to rest in a centered, concave side-up position in a respective receptacle of the lens-fixturing tray.

Abstract:

Intraocular lenses or contact lenses are placed on a lower spindle and held there by a vacuum in conduit. Noble and reactive gases are introduced and a voltage is applied across upper spindle and lower spindle to plasma treat one surface of the lens. The lens is transferred to the other spindle and the process is repeated.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a holder for supporting a two optic accommodating intraocular lens device. The holder is capable of holding the device while taking measurements or performing manufacturing process steps on the device and/or packaging the device. In a preferred embodiment, the holder supports the device along the haptics thereof such that the optics remain untouched and unobstructed by the holder. As such, testing and/or processing of the optics during their accommodative and unaccomodative positions may be taken, and the device may be safely packaged and shipped with the holder.

Abstract:

A method of manufacturing an ophthalmic lens, involves contacting the lens with an aqueous solution comprising a surfactant to remove debris from the lens, prior to inspecting and packaging the lens. The aqueous solution may further comprise a buffering agent and/or sodium chloride. Preferred surfactants include polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer, nonionic surfactants, such as a poloxamer or a poloxamine.
