Abstract:

A full-featured data access arrangement (DAA) for connecting a modem to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) includes a bridge current loop circuit, a line in use detection circuit, an off hook relay, a loop current sense circuit, and an extension/remote event detector circuit. The off hook relay is connected in series with the current loop circuit to enable the DAA to detect external off hook and on hook events when the modem is in an on hook state. The DAA is configured to detect the off hook and subsequent on hook status of an extension telephone at a location even though the modem and a handset sharing a line connector with the modem are both in an on hook state. The DAA is also capable of detecting an off hook state of an extension telephone even though the modem is in an off hook state. In addition, the DAA can detect when a remote telephone device that initiates an incoming call is placed on hook.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for determining the angle of a shaft (16) of an electromagnetic resolver which has resolver windings (10, 12) is disclosed. The sine and cosine resolver winding signals (30, 32) are sampled at a frequency significantly greater than the resolver drive signal. A fast fourier transform (38, 40) is then applied to the winding signals. The polarity of the drive signal (42) is applied to the FFT output (44, 46) and the results are divided one into the other (52) to obtain the arctangent of the shaft angle (56). Using a multiplexer (22) the apparatus can be coupled to a large number of different electromagnetic resolvers.

Abstract:

A waist belt having a variety of individual storage compartments within a single fabric pack supported by the belt. Within the pack is a number of variously sized generally rigid containers fitted removably within top or upper fabric storage compartments of the pack for holding fishing gear. The rigid containers are retained within the fabric compartments with the use of hook and loop fasteners mating between the bottom of the rigid containers and the bottom of the fabric compartments. The top edges of the rigid containers slope downward away from the belt or wearer to provide improved access to items therein. Exposed lids of the rigid containers are hingidly attached to the containers, and open or swing away from the wearer of the belt. The lids additionally include markings for specific items such as hooks, lures, swivels, and weights which may be contained in individual designated compartments for quick access thereto. A large zippered fabric compartment is provided in the pack underneath the rigid containers, openable on the front exterior of the pack.

Abstract:

A power amplifier with supply switching is provided. The power amplifier detects a magnitude of an outgoing broadband communication signal and determines whether the magnitude exceeds a predetermined voltage threshold. The power amplifier applies a first gain to the outgoing broadband communication signal using a first voltage supply rail when it is determined that the magnitude exceeds the predetermined voltage threshold and a second gain using a second voltage supply rail that is smaller than the first voltage supply rail when it is determined that the magnitude does not exceed the predetermined voltage threshold. The power amplifier produces an output signal from the outgoing broadband communication signal with the applied first gain or the applied second gain, wherein a current of the outgoing broadband communication signal is switched between the first voltage supply rail and the second voltage supply rail in response to the magnitude being detected.

Abstract:

A power amplifier with supply switching is provided.
