Abstract:
A method is given in which there is delayed release from the treatment fluid of solid chemicals that are obtained in bulk powder form. The method is used in situations in which it is difficult to encapsulate the chemical to achieve delayed release because the chemical is obtained in powdered form. The method involves delivering the powdered chemical in capsules consisting of encapsulated granulates obtained by aggregating the bulk powder under pressure to form a densified material and, optionally, then dry comminuting the densified material to produce granulates of the desired size. The treatment is hydraulic fracturing and the chemical is a breaker, or the treatment is well cementing and the chemical is a dispersing agent, fluid loss control additive, set accelerator, or extender.

Methods and compositions are disclosed for controlled addition of components that decrease the viscosity of the viscoelastic surfactant fluids or for controlled changes in the electrolyte concentration or composition of the viscoelastic surfactant fluids. One aspect of the invention relates to the use of internal breakers with a delayed activation. Another aspect of the invention relates to the use of precursors that release a breaking system such as alcohol by a process such as melting, slow dissolution, reaction with a compound present in the fluid or added to the fluid during or after the step of injecting, rupture of an encapsulating coating and de-adsorption of a breaking agent absorbed into solid particles. In another aspect of the invention, alcohols are included in a pad to reduce the low-shear viscosity and reduce the resistance to flow of the treatment fluids during a desired phase of the treatment.

Disclosed is a method for preparing a corrugated sandwich panel including the steps of: extruding melted polyethylene resin by use of an extruder and a slit nozzle; molding the extruded polyethylene resin to a vertically corrugated inner sheet by use of a plurality of molding rolls; supplying a lower sheet from the lower portion of the inner sheet and an upper sheet from the upper portion thereof; forming a plurality of melting grooves by use of heaters each provided between the upper sheet and the inner sheet and between the lower sheet and the inner sheet such that the melting and bonding between the upper sheet and the inner sheet and between the lower sheet and the inner sheet is conducted; and pressing the upper sheet, the inner sheet and the lower sheet each having the plurality of melting grooves formed thereon by use of a plurality of press rolls.
Methods For Controlling The Rheological Properties Of Viscoelastic Surfactants Based Fluids
It was found that the addition of polymers to viscoelastic surfactant base system allows to adjust the rheological properties of the base fluid. Depending in particular on one side of the ratio of the concentration of added polymer and the concentration of viscoelastic surfactant and on the other side of the molecular weight of the added polymer, the same polymer—or the same type of polymer—may perform different functions such as viscosity enhancer, viscosity breaker or viscosity-recovery enhancer.
A scale dissolver fluid for dissolving scale in a subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing formation comprises an effective amount of a scale dissolver formulation and an effective amount of a surfactant for controlling the viscosity of the fluid. In use, formation hydrocarbons act on the surfactant to reduce the viscosity of the fluid so that the fluid selectively invades a hydrocarbon-bearing zone of the formation.
Degradable Additive For Viscoelastic Surfactant Based Fluid Systems
A method is given for treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore with a viscosified fluid. The fluid contains a solid hydrolysable polyacid that upon dissolution and hydrolysis releases an acid that is a breaker for the viscosifying system. Suitable solid hydrolysable polyacids include polylactic acid and polyglycolic acid. The fluid also contains a pH control agent, present in an amount sufficient to neutralize any acid present in the solid hydrolysable polyacid before the injection and to neutralize any acid generated by the solid hydrolysable polyacid during the injection, so that the acid breaker is not available to break the fluid during the injection. In one embodiment the viscosifier is a viscoelastic surfactant fluid system and the solid hydrolysable polyacid is of a size selected to be a fluid loss additive, for example in fracturing or gravel packing. In another embodiment, the solid hydrolysable polyacid is used in particles sufficiently small that they enter the pores of the formation. In either case, the viscosifier is broken after the solid releases more acid than can be neutralized by the pH control agent.
An aqueous viscoelastic surfactant (VES) fluid foamed or energized with carbon dioxide, in which the VES is more compatible with the carbon dioxide, is made by the addition of one or more than one synergistic co-surfactant. The synergist co-surfactant includes quaternary amines and ethoxylated carboxylates having a hydrophobic chain shorter than the hydrophobic chain of the VES. Improved compatibility is evidenced for a given surfactant concentration either by formation and maintenance of a foam under conditions at which the foam could not otherwise have been formed or maintained, or by either higher viscosity of the foamed fluid at a given temperature or longer foam life at a given temperature or a higher temperature at which useful fluid viscosity can be generated or maintained for a useful time. The aqueous carbon dioxide foamed fluids may be used in acidizing, acid fracturing, gravel packing, diversion, and well cleanout.
