Abstract:

An apparatus and method for using a single radial TWS product for a variety of applications is disclosed. Radial TWS products are used for intersections and the like. Often, different applications require radial TWS products of varying dimensions. The present invention includes a radial TWS product, having domes on its upper surface, which are ADAAG compliant. Markings are placed on the bottom surface, which indicate the appropriate places where the TWS product can be cut to achieve a variety of effective radii. These markings are positioned such that, after being cut, the resulting radial TWS product continues to meet the ADAAG required center-to-center spacing between domes of adjacent cut TWS products. In some embodiments, anchor members are used in conjunction with the TWS product to allow simple replacement.

Abstract:

In a fluorescent lamp having a phosphor coating, a maintenance improving and light output increasing film comprising yttrium oxide and at least one U. V. absorber is applied over the phosphor. The U. V. absorber is effective in the absorption of a greater amount of 185 nm radiation than 254 nm radiation from the plasma discharge. The film is most beneficial when applied over alkaline earth halophosphate phosphors at a film thickness of from about 50 angstroms to about 500 angstroms.

Abstract:

The problems of the prior art are addressed by a novel tactile warning system that utilizes a separate component to add photoluminescence to the tile. In certain embodiments, the tactile warning system is a replaceable tile and a cap used to cover the fastener is made using a photoluminescent material. In other embodiments, the tactile warning system is a surface applied tile, a Cast-In-Place tile or a replaceable tile, and cavities are created on the upper surface of the tile. A photoluminescent insert is then disposed in these cavities. The photoluminescent insert may be made of plastic, aluminum or acrylic.
