Abstract:

A demountable interconnection for use with material handling and excavating equipment includes a dual hook carriage which may be semi-permanently attached to the boom or dipperstick of a material handler and suitable structures such as parallel beams disposed in the material handling attachment which may be selectively engaged by the dual hook carriage. A locking clevis is movable between a first position and a second position to lock or release the carriage from the attachment.

Abstract:

A trencher for escavating narrow channels in soil comprises a power driven wheel rotating about a transverse, horizontal axis and a plurality of buckets disposed about its periphery. The wheel includes a pair of circular gear racks disposed inwardly from its periphery and symmetrically about the vertical midplane of the wheel. A pair of pinions, engaging the pair of racks, symmetrically applies driving energy to the wheel. Each of the buckets comprises an arcuate cutter face and undercut, arcuate, longitudinal body portion which is secured to the wheel by a flat spoke extending radially outwardly from the vertical midplane of the wheel. The trencher also includes two pairs of arms disposed on opposite sides of the wheel and bucket spokes. As the wheel and buckets rotate, soil is engaged, lifted above ground level and emptied from the buckets by the pairs of arms. Trenches for plastic drain pipe, for example, as deep as six feet and no wider than one foot may be dug by the trencher of the instant invention at speeds as great as forty feet per minute.

Abstract:

A backhoe bucket especially adapted for use in rock strata such as caliche, limestone and soapstone and plastic soils includes a shovel-nose configuration having a plurality of spaced-apart teeth symmetrically arranged along upwardly and rearwardly inclined leading edges of the angled bucket sidewalls. The sidewalls of the bucket to which the teeth are attached intersect a flat, horizontal bottom having a width substantially equal to the width of the tooth mounted thereto. The teeth are arranged in a symmetrical stair-step configuration with each tooth being above and behind an adjacent tooth closer to the center of the bucket. The teeth first fracture, then separate and guide material into the bucket. The rear wall of the bucket is a complex, curved panel which defines an internal volume shaped to receive and readily discharge spoil.
