Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Distance Learning - Departmental Award Presented at the 15th Annual Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) Conference, Dallas, TX TAMUK’s department of Distance Learning and Instructional Technology strongly resembles the changes that occur in the ever-developing technical industry. The DLIT department, as it is referred to on campus, has been dedicated to the promotion of distance learning in every facet of university life. The department’s commitment to excellence has assisted with the creation of its first course over twelve years ago to supporting a nationally recognized fully online program today. DLIT has grown from a singular employee to a department that infiltrates a multitude of offices including grants, recruitment, outreach, student services, etc… It prides itself on merging departments to better service the mission and goals of distance learning on the campus by forming a strong foundation for innovation in curriculum development. The reputation of the department has gone viral. It no longer is a follower of pre-technical era policies, but now is a driving force in the production of new policies and protocols to match the digital age.
