Abstract:

An addressable monitoring system and method for addressing sensors. In one embodiment, the invention provides an addressable monitoring system for a vehicle. In one embodiment, the system includes a plurality of sensors each having at least one address input; a harness; and a controller. The harness includes a common bus coupled to each of the plurality of the sensors. Each sensor is operable to determine its own address according between the sensor and the harness. The controller sends a signal having address information and control or command information through the harness. The sensor having an address that corresponds to the address information in the signal sent by the controller responds. The system is applicable to a tire pressure monitoring system having multiple sensors, one sensor located on or in each tire. Each sensor may be paired with an addressable initiator located in the proximity of the tire.

The coacting mounting structures take the form of a plurality of tabs on the module plate and a respective plurality of keyways in the bracket.

Abstract:

A motor vehicle door module including a module plate, a vertical rail secured to the module plate, and a glass carrier mounted for vertical sliding movement on the rail. The module plate includes a main body planar plate portion and a pair of vertically spaced annular pedestals upstanding from the main body planar plate portion. Each pedestal defines a smooth cylindrical bore and an annular concave conical seat formed at the free end of the pedestal in surrounding relation to the bore. The rail includes a pair of vertically spaced apertures with a concave conical seat in surrounding relation to each aperture sized to nest in the respective pedestal conical seat. The assembly further includes a pair of self-tapping screws each having a conical flat head sized to seat in a respective rail seat. In assembled relation each conical head of each screw nests in a conical rail seat, each rail seat nests in a pedestal seat, and a threaded shank of each screw self-tappingly engages the smooth cylindrical bore of the respective pedestal.

Abstract:

The fitting is an elongated door or like pull strap which is ornamental and well suited for blending, or contrasting, with the decor of a passenger automobile interior. Certain embodiments are intended for installation on a door or other interior panel of a vehicle of the so-called luxury type; in other adaptations use in a less expensive or standard, less luxuriously appointed vehicle is contemplated. However, in all forms a basic and common feature relates to a bracket-mounted strap which presents a well cushioned or padded surface which faces the associated auto panel and is therefore felt by the fingers of the hand of a vehicle occupant; this is diametrically opposed to a finger grip on the rigid, inherently unyielding surface characteristic of automotive door and related pull straps in current use, which surface faces the panel also.

Abstract:

A vehicle assist strap having a central metal core with exposed ends which are secured to a vehicle body via an anti-rotation member. The anti-rotation member is completely concealed by covers which also conceal the fasteners and the ends of the strap. Since the anti-rotation member is completely concealed by the covers, it can be fabricated from relatively inexpensive materials and by relatively inexpensive manufacturing processes. Furthermore, the anti-rotation member is configured to be secured to the strap ends without an additional manufacturing step.

Abstract:

A remote signal transmitter that is capable of producing a command comprising a signal including a first value and an answer calculated using the first value as an input variable in a transfer function. The transmitter broadcasts the signal to a receiver which receives the first value and the answer. The receiver then performs a second calculation using the first value to produce a second answer. The first answer incident upon the receiver is then compared with the second answer and if a predetermined comparison test is satisfied, the subsequent command is implemented. The preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a means to increment the first value each time the transmitter is utilized. In addition, the receiver includes a screening process in which the second calculation performed by the receiver will not be performed if a previously used first value is received.

Abstract:

A security system for an automotive vehicle having an engine is operatively connected between engine running electrical components which are connected to an electrical power source and a lock switch having at least two operative positions. The security system has a lock switch operator having a memory device carried thereon with a first security code stored in the memory device. A theft control module having a memory storing a second security code is operatively connected between the switch and the engine running electrical devices. The theft control module operates to first permit the engine running electrical components to enable the starting of the engine and then to compare the first and second security codes. Upon finding the first security code not equal to the second security code, the engine running electrical components are disconnected from the electrical power source which disables the engine.
