Abstract:
A process is provided for producing animal feed from food waste by providing a dry, pelletized, fibrous organic material. Specifically, the invention relates to methods of thickening/dewatering solids that contain substantial amounts of moisture, e. g. , ground food waste.
Belt Press Apparatus And Method For High Solids Capture And High Solids Content
A belt press solid/liquid separation apparatus is provided for separating organic mixtures with substantial amounts of moisture to produce separated solids with solids content of 50-90% while retaining 99% of the incoming solids in the filter cake. Specifically, the invention incorporates a double-belt press apparatus with a non-permeable upper belt, a highly permeable lower belt, a wedge type zone with adjustable spring compression, and a means for re-screening belt press filtrate with either a single belt press or multiple belt presses configured as a multi-step cascade of belt presses.
A method for increasing the removal of a higher fraction of liquid from the press cake in any belt press is described. Specifically, the invention incorporates a series of rollers that create multiple pinch points to compress the solid fraction while removing liquid. After each pinch point, the solid material is allowed to separate from the belt, fall by gravity, and repack so that more liquid can be released at each successive pinch point than is possible if the material is fed to multiple rollers and pinch points in series without decompressing as is done is prior art.
Two-Stage Static Dryer For Converting Organic Waste To Solid Fuel
An energy-efficient method and apparatus for drying pelletized, moist organic material is described. The method consists of a rapid, high temperature static drying process in a shallow bed, followed by traditional vertical static drying in a deep bed. Hot exhaust gas from the shallow-bed, hot-temperature static dryer is then recirculated to provide thermal energy to the deep-bed, warn-temperature static dryer. This invention can be used to convert wet, organic waste materials such as animal and poultry waste, municipal wastewater sludge, urban post-consumer food waste, or manufactured food byproducts and residuals into solid fuel.

System And Process For Producing Animal Feed From Food Waste
A method for manufacturing a dehydrated food waste product including a dry additive of recycled, dried food pellets and utilizing a mixer and pelletizer is disclosed, which includes maintaining a distance of less than about one meter between mixer and pelletizer.
The present invention improves upon conventional composting by adding a dryer to the system to evaporate moisture. In the high efficiency composting process of the present invention, recycled, dehydrated compost material replaces the bulking agent to adjust the moisture of material entering the fermentor. The invention results in a substantial volume reduction of the fermentor.

This addictive nut is driving record rates of cancer – yet millions continue to chew it
ut the delights of chewing come with a price. In another part of the betel nut consuming world, in the Western Pacific, lies Northern Mariana Islands. In 2018, American otolaryngology-head and neck surgeon William Moss arrived here for a job at the local hospital. He could hardly believe what he saw.Theres a growing list of systemic problems associated with betel nuts. Cardiac issues, renal, liver, adverse outcomes in pregnancy. The story thats unfolding is that betel nut should really be thought of similarly to alcohol and tobacco independently, William Moss says.
