In 2008 I entered the MBA program at TCU in an effort to expand my quantitative understanding of real estate with an emphasis on real estate finance, investments and portfolio management. My course work included Finance, Real Estate Investment Trusts, Negotiations, Conflict Management, Business Law, Real Estate Finance and Real Estate Investments. During 2009, I was on TCU’s MBA team that took first place in the 2009 NAIOP Texas Real Estate Challenge. This was a competition between 7 of the top MBA programs in Texas which simulated a mixed use development scenario in Houston. Again in 2010, I was on the first place team where I served as the team captain. The project required our team to propose a development solution for the land at the site of the former Cowboy’s Stadium. The 2 years of education and the experiences while I pursued my MBA has blended my real estate understanding where I can link the quantitative and qualitative aspects of real estate and where I can link the financial return to the development strategy of a piece of real estate. Additionally, I serve on the City of Coppell Planning and Zoning Commission. This has provided me the insight to real estate entitlements which is a valuable tool in today’s real estate development environment.
