Abstract:
The invention provides an improved hot/cold therapy pad consisting of a thermally conductive fluid and a discrete matrix insert contained within an outer envelope. The matrix insert has significant void space (over 50%) and is chemically inert relative to the other components within the envelope. The matrix has low bulk density and may be formed by bonding fibers together to form a mat. This matrix serves to reduce the flow of the thermally conductive fluid and provide for more effective and consistent heat (cold) transfer from the pad to the skin. The thermally conductive fluid has a viscosity greater than water and is stable over the typical range of hot/cold therapy applications. The invention eliminates saddle-bagging in hot and cold therapy applications.

Abstract:
A method of providing moisture therapy to a subject by applying a moist therapy compress against a treated body portion. The moist therapy compress includes a fluid-permeable shell, a flexible backing fastened to the shell to define an enclosure, and silver-retaining hydrophilic zeolite fill granules loosely contained within the enclosure. The therapy compress is exposed to a source of moisture to cause absorption of water into the silver-retaining hydrophilic zeolite, and the moisture is delivered from the silver-retaining hydrophilic zeolite through the fluid permeable shell to the treated body portion.

Abstract:
The invention provides a wound dressing or therapy compress () containing a fill material () permanently loaded with an antimicrobial silver. The dressing or compress comprises a flexible upper backing () and a lower shell () fastened to one another, and each of which comprises a synthetic fabric. The lower shell is fluid-permeable and is adapted to be placed in direct or covered contact with a wound or tissue to be treated. The backing may be either fluid permeable or non-permeable, as desired, to allow for the release or retention of moisture. The shell and backing are joined to one another to form a plurality of fill material enclosures () therebetween, each such fill material enclosure containing a zeolite fill material which is permanently loaded with antimicrobial silver. The presence of the silver within the fill material promotes a germ and microbial free environment approximate the shell and within the dressing or compress. So constructed, the dressing or compress may be used to cover and protect a wound while absorbing exudate, and may also provide and maintain a heated and/or a moist environment to promote the healing of wounds.

Abstract:
The invention provides a sleeve containing a non-removable therapeutic agent within that is used to provide a variety of therapeutic modalities. The sleeve is constructed of an inner and outer layer of flexible materials suitable to pulled onto a portion of the body such as elbow, wrist, ankle, knee, or other limb for application of therapy. A therapeutic agent of choice becomes non-removable, permanently contained between the inner and outer layers. Various therapeutic agents may be chosen to delivery a wide range of modality. Microwave activated particulates may be contained within the inner and outer coverings to provide moist heat therapy. Metallic particulates may be chosen for cold therapy applications. Outer layers may be insulated to improve heat retention to extend therapeutic time. So constructed, a therapeutic sleeve is provided to delivery heat, cold, or contrast therapy to an affected body part of a human or animal subject.
