Kid Reporter finalist Time for Kids I was one of 22 finalists out of over 400 entries in the Time for Kids reporter contest. Kid Reporter finalist Sports Illustrated for Kids I was one of 100 finalists out of over 1000 entries in their Kid Reporter contest. Honorable Mention Virginia High School League I was awarded an "Honorable Mention" for my story, "Forget Chipotle, Taco Bell is Heaven" that ran in the May 2012 issue of the Falconer. Third Place Virginia High School League I was awarded third place for my story, "Concussions cripple high school sports". It ran in the October 2011 issue of The Falconer. Honorable Mention Scholastic Art & Writing Awards In the Southeast region, I received an honorable mention in the "Persuasive Writing" category for my opinion piece about the lacking relationship between pro sports and the gay rights movement. Regional Gold Key Scholastic Art & Writing Awards My piece, "School sports bring long term consequences" was awarded a gold key in the journalism category. Silver Medal Scholastic Art & Writing Awards My story "School sports bring long term consequences" was awarded a silver medal by Scholastic Art & Writing Awards at the national level. It was one of 1,900 entries to receive recognition out of nearly 230,000 entries submitted.
