It was therefore inevitable that she would write speculative fiction, which has appeared in Intergalactic Medicine Show, PodCastle, Crossed Genres, and the occasional anthology. She is also a bonafide former mad scientist, having performed strange experiments on cancerous mouse neurons. Her medical school lectures have warped the minds of numerous physicians currently practicing in North Carolina. She is a semiprofessional lyric-coloratura soprano and once toured Eastern Europe as second oboist in the Duke University Wind Symphony. A church soloist, she is sometimes asked to sing at weddings and often asked to sing at funerals.
