Abstract:
An improved x-ray brachytherapy system and related methods for delivering low dose radiation to a treatment location while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Generally, the x-ray brachytherapy system can include a device controller, a device positioner, system imagery, and an x-ray brachytherapy probe having two or more delivery needles. The two or more delivery needles are operably coupled to at least one probe housing such that a tip spacing between the delivery needles is minimized when positioned at the treatment location. By reducing tip spacing at the treatment location, smaller radiation doses can be delivered so as to limit radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.

Abstract:
An improved catheter design and related methods providing for the illumination of various anatomical structures while placed within a lumen. The catheter can include a drainage conduit, hose or tube that extends from a proximal end connected to a collection bag to a distal end with a catheter head or opening for collecting fluid. An expandable retention balloon is disposed near the distal end and is adapted to expand within the confines of the bladder by injecting a gas or sterile liquid under pressure through a filling tube or channel disposed axially within the catheter. At least one illumination source, such as a Light Emitting Diode (LED) or a fiber optic light source, can be disposed proximate the catheter head. The control of the light source can include a separate channel disposed axially in the catheter from the proximal end to the distal end.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for connecting disposable and non-disposable portions of a cryoprobe for use with a cryosurgical treatment system. Representative cryoprobes can include a disposable and non-disposable portion joined with a connector such as a coupler for connecting a single disposable portion to a single non-disposable portion. A representative coupler can include coupler ports into which connecting ends of fluid delivery tubes within the disposable and non-disposable portions can fluidly connect. A manifold mounting plate can include a plurality of slots into which disposable portions can be fluidly interconnected to non-disposable portions.

Abstract:
Improved anastomosis devices having structural upgrades to increase ease of use while simultaneously increasing patient safety. The anastomosis device can include a distal treatment end and a proximal connection end. The anastomosis device has a catheter portion with a plurality of inflation lumens and a funnel portion. The funnel portion includes access ports in fluid connection to a catheter receiving aperture for attaching to the catheter portion. Also, the access ports including a drainage port, a control port and a plurality of inflation ports.

Abstract:
An improved catheter design and related methods providing for a sensor disposed within a sensor lumen to provide detection and warning of instruments placed within the proximity of various anatomical structures. The sensor lumen can extend axially the length of a drainage lumen. The sensor or sensors should be able to provide detection warnings for the entire region. The sensor will activate a visual sensor, for example, an LED, an audible sensor, for example, a siren, or similar type alert notification systems. The detecting and indicating means can generate an indicator signal indicative of the presence and/or absence of the instrument in the lumen, and generally provides feedback to the surgeon.

Anatomic models of the abdominopelvic region of a male human patient's body to assist in demonstrating or in training medical personnel in microsurgical techniques are disclosed. The anatomic models preferably demonstrate the passage of elongated medical instruments through the perineum to or into the prostate. The anatomic models preferably comprise a substantially transparent elastomer body mass encasing a relatively rigid skeletal frame and at least a prostate model. The elastomer mass is shaped to simulate the perineum overlying the prostate between a penis model and an anal opening.
