Abstract:
An electrical terminal such as that used in a multi-pin connector has a layer of positive temperature coefficient (PTC) material incorporated therein such that the terminal also serves as a circuit over-current protection device. In a first embodiment, a surface of the terminal is covered by a layer of PTC material such that when the terminal is engaged with a mating terminal, the PTC material is interposed between the surfaces of the mated terminals to create a PTC device. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a terminal includes a contact portion for making electrical connection with a mating terminal, a wire connection portion for connection to a wire, and a layer of PTC material interposed between adjacent surfaces of the contact portion and wire connection portion. The invention terminals provide over-current protection to a circuit without the need for soldering or otherwise connecting a separate PTC device into the circuit.

Abstract:
A Christmas tree type clip for mounting a wire harness or electrical component to a vehicle body panel, the clip being designed to provide a low insertion force and a high retention or withdrawal force. The clip has a hollow, thin-walled, flexible stem supporting a plurality of conventional barbs along its length. The interior of the hollow, flexible stem includes pairs of opposed withdrawal-hindering fingers associated with the barbs such that insertion force exerted on the walls of the stem from the barbs is transmitted to the fingers. The opposed pairs of fingers are angled and spaced from one another such that insertion force spreads the fingers further apart, but withdrawal force exerted on the barbs forces the opposed fingers into withdrawal-hindering contact with one another.

Abstract:
A fuse holder for securely retaining a fuse in a captive, pre-set position relative to a fuse box when the fuse is temporarily removed from electrical connection with a fuse receptacle of the fuse box, the pre-set position keeping the fuse readily available for reinsertion into the fuse receptacle. The fuse holder has a cover that when closed prevents removal of the fuse from the top side of the holder and when open permits removal of the fuse. The fuse holder further has fuse retaining nubs that permit the fuse to be inserted into the holder from below, this feature making the holder compatible with automated assembly of the fuse box.
