Abstract:

A data processing method comprising establishing a first node in a peer-to-peer data communications network, wherein the node is configured as a supernode in conformance with a peer-to-peer communications protocol, wherein the first node is configured as an active listener to one or more network routing protocols executing at a network router; receiving a routing information message from one of the network routing protocols; modifying an operational characteristic of the first node in response to the routing information message; receiving a request from a second node in the peer-to-peer network for a resource that is known to the first node; and responding to the request based on the modified operational characteristic. For example, a peer-to-peer node may be configured as a network-aware BitTorrent Tracker, Gnutella supernode, etc. , and can use IGP and BGP information from a router to determine how the node behaves.

Abstract:

A method, an apparatus and a carrier medium for securely distributing multimedia while still retaining compatibility with existing CA systems. The method includes forming a packet including a plurality of encrypted multimedia stream segments. The packet further includes, for each segment of the plurality, a field providing conditional access information associated with the segment. The method further includes sending the packet to an intermediary. The method is such that the intermediary receiving the packet can send a first segment of the plurality and any associated conditional access information to a first receiver, and send a second segment of the plurality and any associated conditional access information to a second receiver. The method is also such that no decryption of any segment of the plurality is required by the intermediary to send the first segment or to send the second segment.

Abstract:

Personal Cloud Engine (iCloud) described in the present invention collects information relevant to a user from various data sources including personal email accounts, social network accounts, online vendors, on-line services for store and share photos and videos and on-line bank accounts. Collected data are classified, indexed, tagged and stored in a persistent data storage device. Web interface such as HTTP is provides for access data by a client, which can be web browser running on a computing device or a client application running on a smart phone. By gathering all the data, iCloud maintains a secondary copy of all valuable personal data and effectively prevents data loss. iCloud can also utilize the data and extract intrinsic value from the data stored by data mining and analytic tools.

Abstract:

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an image on a computing device. The computing device may further execute a classification algorithm to determine whether a target feature is present in the received image. As an example, the classification algorithm may determine whether a building is depicted in the received image. In response to determining that a target feature is present, the method further includes using a segmentation algorithm to segment the received image for the target feature. Based on a determined footprint size of the target feature, a distribution of statistical information over the target feature in the image can be calculated.

Abstract:

Abstract:

A method to detect a number of individual users included in a composite set of movie ratings having ratings from a plurality of individual users includes accessing the composite set of movie ratings and movie profiles and loading the composite set and movie profiles into a rating analysis engine. Processing the composite set along with the movie profiles determines a number of partitions present in the composite set, wherein the number of partitions is determined iteratively using subspace clustering of ratings from the composite set. The determined number of partitions is output and corresponds to the number of individual users included in the composite set of movie ratings.
