Abstract:

The present invention relates to microbiological processes for the oxidative treatment of refractory gold and base metal ores and concentrates, and specifically, to bacterial inoculums for use in such processes that are strongly resistant to thiocyanate toxicity. The present invention also relates to methods of developing and using these bacteria. The use of a bacterial inoculum with high thiocyanate resistance confers a number of technological advantages on biooxidation processes including improvements in operating flexibility, operation costs and environmental acceptability.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to microbiological processes for the oxidative treatment of refractory gold and base metal ores and concentrates, and particularly, an apparatus for testing refractory gold and sulfidic base metal ores for their suitability to heap biooxidation or bioleaching processes. The invention can be used to simulate heap biooxidation. This apparatus incorporates features of heap biooxidation and may be used to generate engineering data for creating detailed process and engineering designs. The invention can be used to develop a select population of bacteria geared to optimize biooxidation of a specific refractory ore.

A method for structuring an insurance transaction. Presented herein are methods and systems for managing an entity's risks of patent coverage. More specifically, the present invention is directed to methods and system for insuring an entity against damage awards in patent litigation. The presented methods and systems allow a manufacturer to minimize their exposure to damage awards in patent litigation by conducting pre-emptive analyses and properly allocating funds for royalty payments and/or damage awards. Abstract:

A networked gaming system and method permitting a person using a player computer to view a game being played live at a casino, and to wager on the outcome of the game. The player computer is in communication with a wager server, which in turn is receiving at least a video and preferably also an audio signal of the casino game from the casino. Wagering may be accomplished by a variety of payment methods, including direct payment from a player computer to the wagering server or through the use of a credit-type card, in which instance a financial institution server will also be part of the system and method. Preferably, an additional system component is provided, consisting of a casino-wagering server interface, which will be in communication with the casino and wagering server, will monitor the game being played and the wager, and which will determine the outcome of the wager and communicate that information to the wagering server for communication to the player computer.
