Abstract:

A wire management clip for use in connection with pre-formed openings in a surface including for use on the underside of a work surface, the clip having a base and a resilient arm extending from the base. The resilient arm retains wires in close proximity to the underside of the work surface. The wire management clip also includes a projection having a series of spaced apart flanges thereon for gripping the inner surface of the opening in the surface.

Abstract:

A furniture system making it possible to efficiently and at low cost produce articles of furniture in a range of diverse forms and designs. The system is constituted by a basic, multi-section structural module that when erected acts to define the vertical side panels of a piece. The erected module is combinable with removable shelves, tops and other horizontal components adapted to bridge the side panels and rigidify the structure in a manner depending on the predetermined form and design of the piece. The multi-section module is created by two or more rectangular core panels in side-by-side relation to whose opposing faces are laminated fabric layers that serve to interconnect the sections and define living hinges at the junctions thereof whereby the sections may be folded over each other in order to collapse the module for purposes of storage or shipment, or folded out to erect the module for purposes of assembly.

Abstract:

An method item of furniture in which tufting buttons have both a decorative tufting effect and serve to attach a padding to a frame. The tufting buttons have internally threaded shank portions, and screws are threaded into such shank portions to secure the padding to a frame. A cushion assembly is provided by forming ridges on the shank portions of the tufting buttons and utilizing washer-type fasteners that are attached to the shank portions to hold the tufting buttons in place. A methods of producing an upholstered item of furniture that utilizes a flexible plate which is substantially flat in the non-flexed state and which is flexed to and held in a desired curvature in the completed item of furniture. The plate is upholstered in the substantially flat, non-flexed state. Thereafter the upholstered plate is flexed to a desired curvature and secured in its flexed state.

Abstract:

A furniture work surface such as a table top or desk top has a through hole in which is mounted a grommet. An electrical outlet box is insertable into the grommet without blocking the passage of the other wires that pass through the grommet to the work surface. A spacer divider system adapted to partition an interior space into working sub-areas wherein desks, cabinets, and other work components are integrated with partition walls formed by modular panels that are interlocked in a spatial pattern defining the desired sub-areas or work stations. Each panel includes a frame whose corners have recesses therein bordered by side ledges. To join two or more panels in side-by-side relation to create a planar partition wall, sandwiched between the adjoining vertical sides of the panels is a standard having a longitudinal row of slots on opposing faces thereof and a threaded socket at either end. The panels are locked together at their top and bottom by a clamp which bridges the complementary side ledges of the panels and is secured to the standard by a screw received in the end socket. To join one panel at right angles to another, use is made of a four-sided connector post whose ends are notched to create a ledge on each side. In this case, clamps screwed into the end sockets of standards placed against the vertical sides of the panels to be joined, act to bridge the complementary side ledges of the connector post and the panels.

Abstract:

Apparatus for adjusting a back support of a chair which includes a bracket through which the back support slides. A position stop of flexible sheet material is mounted adjacent to the back support. A stop member is included on the back support, while the position stop includes apertures therein. The stop member is engaged in one of the apertures to lock the back support in position. To move the back support, the position stop is flexed to a disengaged position in which the stop member is free from the apertures. After being moved, the position stop is allowed to return to the engaged position in which the stop member is engaged within another aperture.
