Portable Aspirating Device With Anti-Splash Baffle
A portable aspiration device using suction to clear a breathing obstacle or the like in conjunction with a commercially available flow-control member providing opposing operating mode objectives of progressively diminishing porosity in response to fluid contact and progressively increasing the volume of aspirated fluid in a reservoir so that ideally suction is cut off when the reservoir is full to avoid overflow, but in which assumed positions during use inadvertently cause splashing contact of fluid against the flow-control member and premature suction cut off by an unfilled reservoir to interrupt treatment. As a solution, a baffle in size and shape is disposed about the flow-control member and adjacent facing surfaces bound therebetween a compartment of such nominal width that splashing does not occur therein.
Mechanical Variable Rate Flow Control For A Constant Pressure Iv Delivery System
In an IV delivery system, a flow control knob which is rotated to establish camming contact with pistons that operate valves, as a substitute improvement for finger manipulation of the valves, which is prone to switch selection error.
In a gravity feed intravenous fluid delivery system, a fixed volume metering valve having an upwardly spring biased fluid-measuring piston that is also downwardly pressure biased and is effective to cause the dispensing of a fixed volume of intravenous fluid for each up and down cycle of piston movement, characterized by a cyclically operated clamp on the delivery tube of the system which, when the clamp is closed, allows the spring bias to lift the piston in ascending movement and, when in an open clamp condition, causes the pressure to urge the piston in descending movement, to thereby produce said up and down piston movement which cyclically dispenses the fixed volume of intravenous fluid.
In the method of replacing a filled syringe for an emptied syringe in the same syringe pump, the use of a snap-on disc strategically located on the tubing set of the filled syringe which so facilitates the handling of the tubing set and the syringe pump that contamination during the interconnection of the two is obviated and thus the sterile condition of the syringe is assured, and wherein the disc also holds the filled syringe in place during the urging by the syringe pump of the plunger of the syringe in a power stroke causing the delivery therefrom of medicant to a patient.

Abstract:
A housing having exterior lateral side walls, top and bottom side walls and a single internal wall running adjacent to a lateral side wall. The housing defines an internal rectangular compartment and a parallel side track between the adjacent internal and external walls. A collapsible bag filled with liquid and a slide member, actuable by a constant torque spiral spring are located in the compartment. The slide member has a boss fitting and cooperating with the track to allow the slide member to freely slide without a rotative component under action of the spring.
A negator spring-powered I. V. pump of compact size resulting from imparting a non-circular, rather than a linear configuration to the negator spring; the non-circular configuration taking up less size or linear dimension which, added to the linear dimension of the syringe of the pump, results in an optimum reduced overall pump size that is convenient for portable ambulatory I. V. therapy.

Abstract:
A device, noteworthy by its compact construction, portability and use of a constant torque spring to dispense liquid under a uniform force, in which binding due to possible rotative movement in the slide that is powered by the torque spring is obviated, so that the slide tracks properly during liquid-dispensing service of the device, This is in contrast to torque spring-operated prior art devices in which special precautions were required to neutralize the turning movement unavoidably resulting when the torque spring assumed its characteristic helical coils during its functioning.
