    41309200, Dec 26, 1978
  • Filed:
    Oct 20, 1977
  • Appl. No.:
    5/843769
  • Inventors:
Andrew V. Siarto - West Bloomfield MI
  • Assignee:
Siorto Machine & Tool Co., Inc. - West Bloomfield MI
  • International Classification:
    B23P 2300
  • US Classification:
    29 38R
  • Abstract:
A machine tool wherein an angular gear is rotatable in a horizontal plane to carry a plurality of pallets between adjacent peripherally arranged machine stations. Hydraulic power means are provided to raise the gear for transport between adjacent stations and to lower the gear for location at each station in turn. The pallets are each carried by the gear and are hydraulically locked, preferably by the same hydraulic raising and lowering mechanism into finely adjusted position at each machine station by precisely located, telescopically interfitting elements on the gear support table and on the pallets, respectively. Means are provided for accommodating final adjusting movement of the pallets relative to the gear at each machine station, yet fixing the pallet relative to the gear during transport.

  • Appl. No.:

  • Inventors:
Andrew V. Siarto - West Bloomfield MI
  • Assignee:
Siarto Machine & Tool Co., Inc. - Novi MI
  • International Classification:
    B65G 2120
  • US Classification:
    198345
  • Abstract:
A machine tool wherein an annular gear is rotatable in a horizontal plane to carry a plurality of pallets between adjacent peripherally arranged machine stations. The gear is lowered as each machine station is attained by the entry of gear support bearings into recesses in the underside of the gear. The pallets are supported on the gear for limited vertical and horizontal movement, and lowering of the gear positions the pallet on an abutment surface in rough alignment with the machining station. As the gear is further lowered, it is spaced from the pallet so as not to interfere with independent positioning of the pallet by power actuated positioning means located at each machining station. Thus, the pallet can be adjusted independently of the gear when the gear is in its lowered position, yet is carried by the gear when the gear is in its elevated position. After the machining operation is completed, the pallet is released from its clamped position, the gear is raised to again support the pallet, and the gear is rotationally actuated to carry the pallet into rough alignment with the next successive machine station.

  • Appl. No.:
    6/033638
  • Inventors:
Andrew V. Siarto - West Bloomfield MI
  • Assignee:
Siarto Machine and Tool Co., Inc. - Novi MI
  • International Classification:
    B65G 1700
  • US Classification:
    198345
  • Abstract:
A machine tool has a support with a gear movable thereon and connected to a plurality of spaced workpiece supporting pallets with rollers movably mounted between a plurality of work stations upon a pair of rails, one rail having a cam surface. A plurality of abutments are mounted on the support at each work station and supportably engage a pallet when at such station, the pallet being anchored to the abutments for machining of a workpiece. The pallet is lifted off the rails when at a work station and solely supported by the abutments. As the pallet leaves a work station, on advancing of the gear, the cam rail lifts one side of the pallet upwardly to a transfer position above the abutments, with the other side of the pallet lowered for engagement with the other rail.
