Abstract:

A method for representing a digital image having color values with an extended color gamut in a storage color space having a limited color gamut including providing a color adjustment function; adjusting the color values of the extended color gamut digital image to fit within the limited color gamut to form a limited color gamut digital image using the color adjustment function; representing the limited color gamut digital image in the storage color space; and associating information about the color adjustment function with the limited color gamut digital image in the storage color space such that the associated information and the limited color gamut digital image are adapted to produce a reconstructed extended color gamut digital image.

Abstract:

Methods and systems for maintaining color consistency in print-on-demand applications are disclosed. Initially, a plurality of default color settings applicable to a plurality of print-on-demand operations can be established. Thereafter, color consistency can be selectively imposed across a plurality of print-on-demand operations based on the plurality of default color settings applicable to the plurality of print-on-demand operations. Finally, a print-on-demand media product can be rendered in response to selectively imposing color consistency across the plurality of print-on-demand operations. An end-to-end print-on-demand workflow is therefore disclosed herein that describes how to create and print color books while maintaining color consistent at each step of in the work follow.

Provided is a method for the automated selection of sample documents or pages from a large collection, and more particularly an application of the method in a proof presentment environment—where the method is employed for selection and review of representative or extreme pages from a large document, such as one scheduled for printing. The method characterizes pages or documents in a multi-dimensional vector space based upon a set of characteristics, and then uses clustering techniques to group the pages, enabling the selection of typical pages from the groups, outlier pages from extremes lying outside of the groups, or both typical and outlier pages.

A digital image processing system includes one or more opto-electronic image digitization device(s) which digitize still photographic images and produce an extended color gamut digital image corresponding to each still photographic image, and an image processing unit, coupled with said image digitization device(s), which is operative to receive a plurality of extended color gamut digital images from the image digitization device(s). The image processing unit produces at least one limited color gamut digital image from each said extended color gamut digital image by adjusting the color values of the extended color gamut digital image to fit within a limited color gamut; represents each said limited color gamut digital image in a storage color space; determines one or more residual image(s) each representing a difference between one said extended color gamut digital image and its corresponding limited color gamut digital image; and associates each limited color gamut digital image in the storage color space with its residual image(s) such that the associated residual images and the limited color gamut digital images in the storage color space are adapted to be used to reconstruct extended color gamut digital images.
