Abstract:

The present invention is a process for drawing and forming a bright wire of a predetermined diameter and cross-section, from stock of a greater diameter. It includes the steps of (a) continuously feeding said stock from a supply spool through the process; (b) mechanically removing scale from said stock; (c) applying a coating of lubricant carrier to the descaled stock; (d) applying drying air to the stock with the lubricant carrier thereon; (e) applying a lubricant to the carrier-coated stock; (f) drawing the lubricated stock through one or more pressure dies to decrease the diameter of the stock down to the desired predetermined diameter; (g) buffing the drawn stock with a plurality of buffing wheels, said buffing wheels being applied to the drawn stock at a plurality of angles to the direction of travel of the stock to produce bright wire; and, (h) coiling the resulting bright wire into coils for subsequent use. The process is continuous and the speed of the stock is maintained by conventional drive mechanisms to feed into the process and to coil off the process at predetermined speeds. In one embodiment, mechanical removal of scale includes the following steps: (i) bending the stock in at least three different directions over small enough arcs to cause peeling of scale; (ii) abrading of the stock to remove any remaining scale; and, (iii) rinsing the stock to remove any dust resulting from descaling.

The present invention comprises a portable cutting and sewing work station in which a single axle trailer of the U-haul type is adapted in order to exhibit a plurality of cutting surfaces and equipment storage areas. Abstract:

An acoustic signature recognition and identification system receives signals from a sensor placed on a designated piece of equipment. The acoustic data is digitized and processed, via a Fast Fourier Transform routine, to create a spectrogram image of frequency versus time. The spectrogram image is then normalized to permit acoustic pattern recognition regardless of the surrounding environment or magnitude of the acoustic signal. A feature extractor then detects, tracks and characterizes the lines which form the spectrogram. Specifically, the lines are detected via a KY process that is applied to each pixel in the line. A blob coloring process then groups spatially connected pixels into a single signal object. The harmonic content of the lines is then determined and compared with stored templates of known acoustic signatures to ascertain the type of machinery. An alert is then generated in response to the recognized and identified machinery.

Abstract:

A system for automatically classification of human fingerprints. An unidentified fingerprint is processed to produce a direction map. The direction map is processed to generate a course direction map. The coarse direction map is input to a locally connected, highly constrained feed-forward neural network. The neural network has a highly structured architecture well-suited to exploit the rotational symmetries and asymmetries of human fingerprints. The neural network classifies the unidentified fingerprint into one of five classifications: Whorl, Double Loop, Left Loop, Right Arch and Arch.

Abstract:

A socket wrench extension is used with one of a plurality of removable sockets having different depths. The extension has a threaded magnetic head and a shank. The shank has a driving and driven end. A threaded axial bore extends into the driving end but falls short of the driven end. The driven end has a drive receiving portion. The shank also has at its driving end a polygonal portion with a polygonal cross-section. The magnetic head is threaded partially into the bore to extend beyond the driving end. Thus the threaded magnetic head can be adjustably extended from the driving end to bring the magnetic head into a position consistent with the different depths of the removable sockets.
