Abstract:

A combustor () for a gas turbine engine is provided with a premix pilot fuel stage () in order to reduce the emission of oxides of nitrogen from the engine. An in-service engine may be modified to add the premix pilot fuel stage by delivering premix pilot fuel to a ring manifold () for tip-feeding a premix pilot fuel outlet member such as a swirler vane () or fuel peg (). In this manner, complex and expensive components such as the top hat (), support housing () and diffusion pilot burner assembly () may be used without modification. Thermal stresses caused by the differential cooling of the ring manifold by the premix pilot fuel () are reduced by a heat shield () installed within the manifold.

An insert for use with a portable power tool. Abstract:

A hypodermic syringe and a plurality of single use cartridges able to be successively loaded into said syringe for providing rapid dispensing of a medicant to numerous users without possibility of contamination. The cartridges are continuously fed through the syringe for the quick and efficient inoculation of patients. An operator inserts a needle into a patient by pushing in a trigger. Prior to the needle being inserted into the patient, a disinfectant is dispersed from the cartridge to maintain sterility. An operator then pushes in a plunger forcing the medication through the needle into the patient. The plunger is pulled back into its original location after use. The needle is pulled back with the plunger out of the patient's skin and back into the cartridge. A new cartridge on a clip is then advanced into the syringe for use in inoculating the next patient needing medication. The syringe and cartridge dispenser further maintains a sterile environment during successive vaccinations reducing the transmission of any disease from patient to patient.

Abstract:

A system for removing zest from a rind includes a mobile member for receiving the rind thereon. The mobile member is movable in a lateral direction between a start position and an end position. At least one grater is positioned along the path of the mobile member. The grater removes the zest from the rind as the mobile member moves between the start and the end positions. A first receptacle receives the zest removed by the grater and a stop member is positioned at the end position for removing the zested rind from the mobile member.

Abstract:

A medical instrument for removing specimens from the lungs includes scissor-like cutting jaws and a tube which can be advanced toward the jaws to close them and slide over them. The jaws are biased to an open position when extended beyond the open end of the tube and include lateral projections which coact with longitudinal slots in the tube to guide the jaws relative to the tube.
