Abstract:

Customized implants for use in reconstructive bone surgeries where anatomical accuracy and bone adaptation are important, such as plastic and craniomaxillofacial reconstructions. This implant comprises a porous surface layer and a tough inner core of interpenetrating phase composite. The porous surface layer enhances the biocompatibility, tissue ingrowth, and implant stability. The tough inner core improves the mechanical properties of the implant with a high fracture toughness and a low modulus. The anatomical accuracy of the implants will minimize the intra-operative manipulation required to maintain a stable host bone-implant interface.

Abstract:

A differential global positioning system (DGPS) processor can include an almost fixed integer ambiguity (AFIA) module for generating in real-time a multiple dimensional state vector of integer ambiguities and multiple dimensional corrections. The AFIA module can use double difference (DD) measurements for pseudo-range (PR) and carrier phase (CP) pairs generated from at least three global positioning system (GPS) receivers. A DGPS processor can be included in a high data rate real time attitude determination (RTAD) system to achieve high heading accuracy with high integrity.

In various embodiments devices and methods for the detection and/or quantification of clinically relevant pathogens (e.g., bacteria, fungi, viruses, etc.) are provided. In certain embodiments the device comprises a lateral-flow assay that detects the bacterium at a concentration of less than about 6×10cells/mL, less than about 3×10cells/ml, less than about 1×10CFU/mL, or less than about 50 μg/mL. The application discloses an implantable device, comprising a galvanic redox system formed on a body substrate of the implantable device. The implantable device has a non-zero surface potential when it is deployed. The galvanic redox system comprises a first metal site and a second metal site, the first metal site comprising a first metal having a first metal electrode potential (FMEP) and the second metal site comprising a second metal having a second metal electrode potential (SMEP), which FMEP being lower than SMEP and SMEP being substantially different such that the implantable device is galvanized when it is deployed. Thus, the devices and methods disclosed herein provide novel and useful means for point-of-care.
