Abstract:
An interactive data mining system () that is suitable for data mining large high dimensional (e. g. , 200 dimension) data sets is provided. The system graphically presents rules in a context allowing users to readily gain an intuitive appreciation of the significance of important attributes (data fields) in the data. The system () uses metrics to quantify the importance of the various data attributes, data values, attribute/value pairs, ranks them according to the metrics and displays histograms and lists of attributes and values in order according to the metric, thereby allowing the user to rapidly find the most interesting aspects of the data. The system explores the impact of user defined constraints and presents histograms and rule cubes including superposed and interleaved rule cubes showing the effect of the constraints.

Abstract:
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a system having a controller to identify from commentaries of an object or service one or more context-dependent opinions associated with one or more features of the object or the service, and synthesize a semantic orientation for each of one or more context-dependent opinions of the one or more features. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract:
According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a method executed by an information processing apparatus in order to cause a neural network to learn a Ttask corresponding to a Tlearning set is provided. The method includes: for each of a plurality of units, determining an importance degree of the unit in the Ttask; for each of a plurality of layers, determining dissimilar tasks from among a first task to a (T−1)task, the dissimilar tasks being not similar to the Ttask in terms of behaviors in the layer; and in learning that uses the Tlearning set, suppressing updating of weight parameters of the plurality of units included in the plurality of layers in accordance with importance degrees in the dissimilar tasks determined for each of the plurality of layers.
