Abstract:

A stabilized halocyanoacetamide composition in the form of a solution or emulsifiable concentrate using selected ester solvents is disclosed. Preferred ester solvents include glyceryl triacetate, ethyl acetate and diethyl phthalate. Particularly preferred are stabilized compositions containing 2,2-dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide, glyceryl triacetate and optional non-ionic surfactants or additional antimicrobial compounds, particularly 3-isothiazolone compounds.

The invention relates to compositions for reducing the swelling of wood in the presence of water, comprising: one or more polymers comprising, as polymerized units, i) 55-99.9% by weight of the total polymer of one or more (meth) acrylic acid ester monomers having the formula: wherein R=hydrogen or a methyl group; and R=an alkyl or alkenyl group containing at least 12 carbon atoms; and ii) 0.1-45% by weight of the total polymer of one or more monomers copolymerizable with (I). The invention also relates to a method of reducing the rate at which biocide leaches from wood.
