Abstract:

Hardware and software of a system is co-verified with synchronization events generated in the respective hardware and software verifications being accumulated and provided to the other verification on a periodic basis. The faster verification is halted to allow the slower verification to catch up, upon expiration of a synchronization window. Once caught up, the accumulated synchronization events are provided to the respective other verification. The transferred synchronization events are then in turn injected into the other verification at the same offset time into a synchronization period the synchronization events occurred in the previous synchronization period.

Abstract:

A hardware/software co-simulation permits access to a server state from any process in the hardware/software co-simulation. In one embodiment, a co-simulation interface receives a request from a client system for configuration data for the server state in of the hardware/software co-simulation. The configuration data defines memory locations in the co-simulation from which the server state can be assembled. The interface inserts the request in the co-simulation. The co-simulation responds with the configuration information. Based on the configuration information, memory operations can be performed on the server state.

Abstract:

The present invention pertains to the field of electronic design automation (EDA). More particularly, this invention relates to using coherent state among multiple simulation models within an EDA simulation environment. Two related inventions are described. One invention selectively activates certain simulation domains in an electronic design automation (EDA) simulation environment at various times during the simulation of a circuit design and maintains timing synchronization among the various domains. The other invention makes state information accessible to simulation models in an EDA simulation environment without the necessity of simulating data transfers in the simulated circuit design. In various embodiments, the inventions increase efficiency and versatility of a simulation environment.

Abstract:

A circuit transformation software module incorporating the teachings of the present invention is provided to an otherwise conventional emulation system. The circuit transformation software module takes a circuit design as input and transforms it into a "new" circuit design in accordance to a plurality of circuit primitive transformation rules of the present invention, which embodies a circuit state encoding scheme of the present invention. This "new" circuit design when "realized" on the otherwise conventional emulation system in a conventional manner, allows the original circuit design to be simulated on the emulation system, i. e. , the response of the original circuit design under various unknown and uncertain conditions can be simulated. As a result, correctness of the original circuit design's responses under these conditions can be correctly ascertained. Additionally, reliability/accuracy of fault simulation results is improved.
