An apparatus for cutting a planar medical component having a first surface and a second surface, comprising a clamp for fixing the component and applying a tensile force, a support having a surface having a hole therein, the upper surface disposed proximate the second surface of the component, and a cutting device having a cutting head disposed proximate the support and facing the first surface, wherein the support is configured to move along the plane of the component relative to the clamp and the cutting device cutting head is configured to hold position relative to the support.

Abstract:

A hard disk destruction apparatus is presented having a penetrating point that is manually pressed against a hard disk. The point has an angled tip designed to penetrate the hard disk casing and deform the hard disk platters within. The manual pressing avoids the use of any electrical power or other fuel. In one described embodiment, a mechanical arbor press provides the necessary force. A transparent safety shield surrounds the hard disk during destruction. A restraint prevents upward movement of the hard disk when the point is extracted.

Abstract:

A method for manipulating a portion of a medical device comprises the following steps. Provide a medical device having components which are adjacent to each other. a first portion of a component constructed and arranged to at least partially absorb a predetermined wavelength of energy. A second portion of a component being substantially transparent to the predetermined wavelength of energy. Transmit the predetermined wavelength of energy through the second portion and expose the first portion to the energy. The first portion being heated as a result of substantially absorbing the energy. Transmit heat from the first portion to at least one adjacent portion of the components. Melt the first portion and the at least one adjacent portion. Removing the energy from the first portion. A bond being formed between the first portion and the second portion by allowing the portions to cool together.

The renal nerve modulation device may include an elongate catheter shaft having a distal portion. An ablation member may be coupled to the distal portion. Abstract:

Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, systems, and methods for tissue resection in a body lumen of a patient, and may include an endoscope and a backstop delivery device extendable through the endoscope. The backstop delivery device may deliver a backstop to a location of selected tissue for resection. A backstop may include a covering being deployable in a patient. The covering may have one or more anchoring mechanisms disposed on an edge of the covering. A tissue resecting device may be extendable through the endoscope for resecting the selected tissue for resection. The covering may be deployable to an outer surface of the body lumen, such that the anchoring mechanism may secure the covering to the outer surface of the body lumen and the covering may expand to cover the selected tissue for resection.
