Abstract:

A hardware and software implemented, standardize testing, scoring and reporting system has a network interface, being either LAN or the Internet. A test is selected from a library, assigned to a group of examinees, and a record is made of the assignment. The test is available on-line, or downloaded, or both. Downloaded tests are saved as PDF files and printed into booklets. Examinees record answers on bubble sheets, which are scanned at the customer site or shipped to a processing plant. Individual scanned answer sheets provided data for individual scanned records. Scanning software performs an initial auto-correct and then performs an initial check for errors in scanned records. Tests are batched for later inspection. Scanned records with errors are classified as invalid and the test papers are separated. Prompts are generated for a human test paper inspection and scanned record editing.

Abstract:

An on-line, computerized, software-driven system provides writing assessment of submitted essays with instructional feedback. The feedback incorporates comments and prompts provided to the user which are generated in response to the assessment evaluation of written text. Skill level and developmental level comments, remarks and prompts on various genre specific domain areas are provided in a real-time mode or in a request response mode, as elected by the user. Assessment and scores are provided by machine methods driven by a software engine. All appropriate comments and prompts are generated to the user by analysis logic software operating on a database of genre specific, educationally acceptable comments and prompts.

Abstract:

A method and a web-based software apparatus for use in the automated scoring of assessment test papers, utilizes both a human and the machine scoring of each paper in a poly-metrological evaluation each assessment score. The scoring performance of each human scorer, in web-base assessment scoring production, is constantly monitored and evaluated, in real time, for score accuracy, bias, and other factors. Whereof, each human score performance is measured against machine score performance of the same assessment paper, and if need be, against a second human score performance in scoring the same assessment paper. Scores are resolved according to a subscriber approved algorithm. Irresolvable discrepancies are addressed by a chief or master human scorer. The score performance history of each production, human scorer is constantly monitored, in real time, and each human scorer is prompted or selected-out for retraining, as necessary, according to a selected, real time, evaluation algorithm. Scorer performance is judged according to exact agreement rates, and according to adjacent agreement rates.
