Abstract:

The invention provides an improved gas cylinder and valve for filling or discharging a gas cylinder comprising a body having a first end, a second end, and an axial bore for providing a passageway for flow of fluid. A collar is provided having an outer surface for engaging an external member to the valve for accepting or discharging fluid. A core is provided having an axial bore for receiving a pin disposed within the body and providing a passageway for flow of the fluid. The first end of the body is adapted to removably mount and rotationally fix the collar. The first end of the body is further adapted to removably receive the core, whereby the core retains the collar on the body when the core is received by the body.

An electronic controller, such as a programmed microcontroller ( ), controls a series of pumps (P -P ) to automatically sequence the pumping of the individual fluids required by the ELISA procedure into a cell (or cells) necessary to produce a reporter, control the positioning of the carrier of the reporter ( ) adjacent the reporter sensor ( ), analyze the data obtained from the reporter sensor and display ( ) the concentration of the bioagent determined from the analysis of the foregoing data. Abstract:

Method and apparatus for providing a standardized measure of accuracy of each biometric device in a biometric identity authentication system having multiple users. A statistical database includes continually updated values of false acceptance rate and false rejection rate for each combination of user, biometric device and biometric device comparison score. False acceptance rate data are accumulated each time a user successfully accesses the system, by comparing the users currently obtained biometric data with stored templates of all other users of the same device. Each user is treated as an âimpostorâ with respect to the other users, and the probability of an impostors obtaining each possible comparison score is computed with accumulated data each time a successful access is made to the system. The statistical database also contains a false rejection rate, accumulated during a test phase, for each combination of user, biometric device and biometric device comparison score.

Abstract:

The invention provides a barrel for a gun having a portion comprising a substantially transparent material. The barrel can be made of any substantially transparent material including a polycarbonate or glass, such as tempered glass. The barrel is coated with a substantially transparent material to add hardness, which provides scratch resistance, and prevent deterioration of the substantially transparent material. A barrel assembly is constructed by attaching the barrel to a gun housing, also called a barrel cage, comprised of a stiff material, for example metal such as aluminum. In another aspect of the invention, an expansion chamber is provided having a housing with a portion comprising a substantially transparent material, such as a polycarbonate or glass, such as, tempered glass. The housing is coated with a substantially transparent material to reduce scratching and absorption of pressurized gas into the transparent material. The housing is partially enclosed within a cage to provide additional protection and stiffness to the expansion chamber.

Abstract:

The invention provides an improved gun for firing a projectile comprising a grip, a receiver, a projection on either the grip or receiver and a retainer fixedly attached to the other, so that the projection and retainer selectively engage each other, retaining the grip and receiver in a fixed relationship. The apparatus provides a safety retainer and a safety projection, whereby the safety retainer and safety projection engage one another when the hammer is in the ready position, maintaining the grip and receiver in the fixed relationship. A safety member is provided preventing the retainer from disengaging the projection when the hammer is in the ready position, and blocking the hammer from moving into the ready position when the retainer is not in the first position and the hammer is not in the ready position. A primary antibody bead suspension for an enzyme-linked immunoassay (“ELISA”) procedure is formed of a quantity of primary antibody coated magnetic beads () uniformly dispersed and held in suspension () by a thixotropic non-Newtonian fluid ().
